I have this 50/50 of floyd taking the fight. I know he already did some preliminary interview about pac and his performance but that doesnt mean **** until contract are signed. As much as I'd very much like to see this fight, there is a big chance that it won't happen. Though he'll be a ****** for real not to take that huge amounta treat.
This thread is hilarious. Bladerunner is critical of Floyd because he feels Mosley is the tougher fight than Pac and that Floyd will fight Pac out of greed. Jack is critical of Floyd because he believes Mosley is the easier fight and that Mayweather will take much less money in that fight to protect his "0". I guess neither one of them has stopped to think that either opponent would be a worthy challenge for Floyd. One is top WW, and one is the p4p fighter. In the end, Floyd will fight Pac first. Floyd has every reason to take the fight, and zero reasons not to take it. There is tremendous outside pressure as well. Rest assured, I will enjoy the endless threads about Mayweather being supposedly scared out his mind of Pac. After the fight gets signed, the threads about Mayweather being forced to take the fight will be enjoyable as well.

No. He has reasons not to take it. The risk/reward ratio may not appeal to him. (I think we can ignore some of the sillier reasons PBF may come up with) It is just a question of whether or not the reasons against him taking the fight are outweighed by the reasons for him to take the fight.
He stands to make his biggest purse in this fight. I'll let you think about much sense this comment by you actually makes. This fight will get done. It's pretty much a certainty. There is no good reaon for this fight not to happen, none. Look at all the guys people claim Floyd ducked. None of them were draws and everytime he fought someone who the public wanted to see him fight more, and it was always a fight that paid him more money. There is no bigger draw that Floyd can fight, there is no bigger money fight, there is no bigger fight in terms of legacy, there is no other fight that approaches the demand for this fight.
Floyd doesn't need to fight until he needs the money. He doesn't really want his name in the hat anymore, I don't think, but as a businessman, he won't be able to resist a Pacquiao superfight paycheck and they'll make the fight most likely.
The most hilarious thing will be Floyd's own reasoning of deserving the bigger cut backfiring. He pointed out he deserves 60-40 based on his PPV figures and his live gate, and when it becomes official that Pacquiao-Cotto outdid Mayweather-JMM, Floyd will either have to stick with his own reasoning and accept the 40, or the media will feed him his own medicine like turkeys are feed before Thanksgiving.
I don't doubt that Mosley is a great fighter and him against Mayweather would be huge. I just realize it's not the fight us fans want to see, although it's a good one, but it is more likely to happen as it's the easiest mega money fight for Mayweather to take. Zero reason to not take it? Please. We all know that the two things Materather values most are at huge risk in this fight. 1. His undefeated record 2. His ability to make money If the first goes, he loses the second. His marketability lies in the fact he's undefeated and if he loses, there's no more 8 figure paydays for him on the near horizon.
Margarito? Mayweather got a guarenteed $8m to fight either him or Baldomir and he chose Baldomir. His earnings went up to $12m because of PPV but as Margarito was a much bigger draw than Baldomir, you would have to assume Mayweather would have made more than $12m fighting Margarito.

Even if he did believe Pac would beat him, he would still take the fight considering all the money involved and considering how much he would get punked for not taking the fight. Nodody is turning down that type of money. Immediately after the Cotto/Pac fight he told Schaeffer to start negotiating a fight between he and Pac. Now he's doing interviews discussing a Pac fight. To me it seems that Floyd is pissed. He feels he gets no credit and that Pac gets heaped with endless praise that he feels he deserves. For Floyd, this fight is about money, and about sticking it to the boxing media and critics by beating their golden child.
