He wouldn't flat out say "Wlad can beat me" but we all know he would, as does Mayweather himself. It's self promotion. You think it's absurd that a boxer may want to protect his career? Mayweather doesn't need to risk losing against Pacquiao. He could choose to fight against "good" fighters and keep on winning because his entire legacy is based on his 0 right now. If that goes, what is Mayweather? A good fighter who beats good opponents. He is not an all time fighter. If he loses, he's out of the top 100 of all time. Mayweather has so much to lose.
So Margarito wasn't a bigger draw than Baldomir? That's a joke. Margarito was a much bigger name and there was much more interest in Mayweather fighting him rather than Baldomir. It doesn't matter why Margarito was the bigger name, the fact is, he was.
As I suggested, steroids will be used as an excuse. It's ridiculous that Mayweather Sr. says his son shouldn't fight Pacquiao because he may be on performance enhancing drugs. Aside from the fact there's no proof, if Floyd would win, why not prove it? If Pacquiao is roided, it only makes it a better win.

There has never been a fight with this much demand that didn't happen. I don't care how much you think Floyd wants to protect his record. It doesn't matter. There is way too much money on the table, and pressure from the media and the fans for the fight not to happen. Floyd's stock would plummet dramatically if people felt he was the reason the fight didn't happen. It would be worse than him losing and he knows that.
I've come to think that floyd dosnt even care that much abut his p4p status etc. He only cares about these things in relation to how they help him make money. He's a business man. He will fight Pacquio just cause there is money in it. You can see from his recent interviews that he is indeed contemplating that Pacquio might beat him. Quote: "If I get beat and make 60 - 70 million in one fight, c'mon man, Im not loosing". When have you EVER heard Floyd say something like that? He's knows he has to fight Pac, he knows he migh lose, he's fine with it. $$$$$$$$$

Your spot on with #2. It's a shame because Mayweather has potential to be a great but his fear of losing and fighting the best hinders him. It's his downfall that will later haunt him like it did RJJ.
With Mosley...I can kind of understand it. I don't think Mosley is a cheat, per se, but he has been caught. But how can anyone demand these tests and accuse the way Mayweather has done, without one ounce of proof? It truly is the definition of "shameless". Mayweather has a legion of loyal fans...I can understand why. He has no desire to gives the fans anything - including justification for their support.
Now the fight appears to be off...what do people say now? I didn't want to say "I told you so", but I did. Mayweather wants no part of Pacquiao at all and will hide behind steroids until he's broke. Sadly, Pacquiao may be long retired when that happens. Floyd is a coward, like I told you all from the start.
