Vargas had insane work ethic when he was preparing for fights such as DLH/Tito, just ask Robert Garcia.
Stop being such a floyidiot with your ridiculous comments. Look up the word work ethic in the dictionary and stop acting like a dumbass
Vargas does not belong in this thread. Everything about him was mediocre..especially his preparation.
the hardest thing to learn in boxing is defense.:hi: It takes a level of heart and dedication many cannot achieve. Dudes with shi.tty defeanse don't work hard enough.:yep
There are plenty of boxers with tremendous work ethics ! Just ********uals think Floyd works the hardest !atschatsch
Bradley works extremely hard, but he does blow up by 20 lbs between fights. I don't question what fighters put in during camps, its what they do when they are not in camp. Are they living the "spartan lifestyle" as Hunter would say. Floyd stays at weight, Hopkins is another that lives the lifestyle. Hatton would work extremely hard at camp....to make weight. Guys like Floyd and Bernard can work on skill because they are at weight. Less toll on the body for the long run.
mayweather has the camera on him all the time. Their are club fighters that train just as hard but don't have 1/10 of the skills and talent.
I doubt Bradley is a Gym rat, he blows up in weight between fights, that is not the mark of a Gym rat.
Bingo There still seems to be a misconception that most boxing skill is God-given and not man-made; while natural instincts certainly have their part to play, fighters like Floyd and Hopkins (others as well, but those are two prime examples) have literally put 5,000-10,000+ hours of skills work in above and beyond the average titlist along with not sabotaging their own bodies in the process during "off" periods. It takes an incredible amount of work for it to look that natural, and we shortchange the work ethic these guys put in when we chalk it up as just being natural ability. Coming in to camp in shape and ready to work is a huge plus- that's also why fighters who are extremely big for their weight are rarely extremely skilled at that weight.
Roy has always done roadwork. When he was younger he used to run 7-8 miles, but from the last ten years or so, he's ran no more than 5. Roy was never lazy, and he couldn't afford to be with Big Roy. Big Roy was brutal! He used to beat Roy with lead pipes and all sorts of things. They split up in 1992, because Big Roy was holding him back, and Roy wanted to be his own man at 23. They had lots of arguments, but the final nail in the coffin, was when Big Roy shot a dog, who Roy was looking after for his friend. It bit Roy's sister, so Big Roy got his gun and then shot it. Roy didn't speak to him properly for 6 years. It was his proposed fight with Buster Douglas in 1998, that brought them back together, because Big Roy wouldn't let him go through with it.
***** how do you know no other boxer has a great work ethic ? Is it because your glued to 24/7 and all access and just assume that he is the hardest worker ? Typical ***** logic !
I won't say all boxers work just as hard as him but there a boxer out there that puts in just as much work as he does. The thing that separates him from the rest of the pack is that he doesn't blow up in weight between fights and maintain his weight all year round. When it comes time for camp he can concentrate in everything else beside worrying about losing weight or gaining.
