He actually did good work with Gatti, revived his career,he had a bad gameplan with Mayweather but either way Arturo wou;d have lost and they all came against Gatti with Baldomir. He helped Gatti more than anything.
Malignaggi had a few winning fights with him before Hatton, nobody is unbeatable.

Bull****. Mcgirt is a former two division champion and a fantastic trainer that does the best for his fighters. He can't get in the ring and fight for him and all the keyboard warriors need to show this man some respect. Stop using him as an excuse when your fighter doesn't perform like they should.

Using Gatti is a **** poor example anyway because McGirt is the one that got Gatti boxing and moving again and wound up adding a few more years on the end of Gatti's career.

    LOL

Every time I see McGirt in a corner, I just know they are destined to lose.

I was just talking about that to one of my coworkers this past week, and when I was watching the Klitschko fight, I was shocked to see McGirt in Rahman's corner.. I was like, "Oh ****..." - I mean, I knew he was going to lose anyway, but I thought he had a puncher's chance or might even put on a decent show.. but when I saw McGirt, I knew it was over before it began.

People are kinda harsh with him, if you look at most of these examples he was training a donkey to try and beat a race horse.

It does look kinda bad when you look at all these losing corners and McGirt's face is there however. I have never been impressed with his advice in the corner, it seems useless for a struggling fighter. I don't believe he's making these guys lose though, if he got some favorites going into fights his record would likely look a whole lot better

I don't think it's that McGirt doesn't know his boxing, but the man is spread too damn thin to make any significant positive impact on his fighters. The guy is in the corner of like 20 guys. WTF??? How much time can he really be spending at all of these guys camps? I'd sure as hell like to see McGirt's bankroll from this. Obviously his financial strategy is based on quantity over quality, or not having his eggs in any one basket...

It was mentioned during the Setanta broadcast (UK tv) of the fight last night and i have also heard something similar mentioned on here before that Buddy is a good trainer but a bad tactician. They also said like you did that his advice in the corner is pretty poor as well.

This may explain why he has so many fighters but they aren't very succesful under him. He must be doing something right in the gym to have so many high profile fighter's seeking him out to train them. Unfortunately his game plan and his inabilty to get his fighter to change strategy if they are losing holds him back and makes him look ****.

Those guys all sucked anyway. I'd argue that McGirt got them much further than they ever should have gotten. The only one I question is Tarver v Hopkins. Tarver looked like a deer in headlights in that fight.

poor buddy, one of my fave fighters to watch, excellent little fighter but man i cringe when i see him in someones corner. can someone reel off a list of his recent victory's as a trainer? it seems everytime i see him he loses(which is like every week, i swear the dude trains like 50 people and fills in for anyone who doesn't have or is missing a trainer haha)

Well this is a **** poor thread.. McGuirt gave Gatti another lifeline from the Terron Milllett fight. If McGuirt didnt encourage him to "box" we never would have seen the Gatti Ward trilogy. This thread is garbage.
