Hopkins was the best. Consistent and great. Toney next.. skills and beating Nunn and fighting heavy McCallum was good, but losing to Kalambay when he was still ok diminishes him as the least of the 3.
I don't think it does necessarily.Kalambay would not be incapable of beating Toney or Hopkins either after all. No wait, he lost in the first to Nunn, who was stopped by Toney, who lost more rounds to Jones than Hopkins.ah forget it, i'm completely wrong.
Toney McCallum Hopkins Toney and McCallum are very close skillwise, whereas I feel that Hopkins has other attributes that made him so great (of course he is very crafty and skilled too). It's Hopkins ring intelligence, experience and guile, plus of course his toughness, durability and longevity, that make him so good - not exceptional skills in themselves, if you get my point.
That's a bull**** point. Kalambay was an amazing boxer who produced an incredible performance vs McCallum - and stylistically he would have been an absolute nightmare for Toney. Don't forget, B-Hop drew with Segundo Mercado, and Toney had a torrid night with Dave Tiberi, amongst others. All three men had their difficult nights... though Mercado and Tiberi were not fit to lace Kalambay's boots.

Very different fighters, so hard to compare, but I'd go: Toney- old school infighting second to none. McCallum-just a total technician. real pleasure to watch. toney said he was the best he ever fought. Hopkins-knows HOW to win, great defensive fighter, I'd put him technically just slightly below the other two.
One point about Tiberi. That was a total weight issue, Toney was completely drained, and I still think he won by a point. That fight was by no means any indication of Toney's ability. He really never had any business being dehydrated down to 160.
Toney McCallum Hopkins In terms of boxing skills Toney is up there with the best. As for McCallum and Hopkins, I just feel McCallum is a slightly better all round fighter. Would have loved to have seen a fight between them. All very close
Hopkins has the better technical skillset although McCallum has the wider range. Think Hopkins is the master fundamentally whereas mcCallum is more adaptable but also less specialised in certain areas.
1. Toney 2. McCallum 3. Hopkins Toney and McCallum are close. Hopkins is not. Hopkins is a top 5 all time dirty fighter though.
