Ill just add again you gotta give the dude credit. He knew he had no chance but he played the promotion pretty well and did the kamikaze on Tyson something noone had done before. Ill even go so far to say it exposed Tyson a bit in his comeback, because he looked a little unsettled in that fight, and Buster Mathis did the exact same thing and gave Tyson hell for three rounds. In fact I would go so far as to say both McNeely and Mathis showed more balls than Bruno and Seldon!!
Agreed:good Mcneely showed a lot of HUEVOS in that fight, and tried his best at hitting the lotto, unlike a skilled fighter like Seldon who folded up. Always liked Mathis skills even though he was a fat boy with no punch. If he had some power i think he could have been a legit contender.
"i am going to wrap mike tyson in a cacoon of horror" i think it was his fight v. akinwande (sp?)...i happened across the fight on tv and saw mcneeley coming to the ring to the mission impossible theme song looking a complete mess. even when consumption hadnt gotten the better of him he still really wasnt anything worth writing home about. i'm young (comparitivley) but from what ive seen of cooney this is laughable.
The thread's existence alone seems like a complete ignorance of or disrespect for Cooney. McNeely isn't even a poor man's Cooney. Peter McNeely isn't even a poor man's version of TOM McNeely, ffs. This content is protected
Match should be McNeely vs. Don Steele. You had both of those guys building up impressive results on paper in regional fights. I think Dickie Ryan was another as well, up to the Klitschko fight.
