^^^^^ Was going to say the same thing, @ .32-34 the right arm flares out when you shoot the left uppercut. Watch out for that. Good stuff though.
I fight at 152, 5 fights. (going to 140) Have 2 coming up. This is the first time I ever worked with him. Like literally 15-20 minutes before we starting doing pad work. He does train as in fully train a few pro fighters, sparring, conditioning, bag work etc... Me and him seem to have a good feel for each other. Once I start working with him more, coming up, I will let you guys know how it works out. But he doesn't only do mitts. Thats his nitch though.
OK OK you've obviously got a routine going there with the trainer..sorry i disagree with the good pad work you standing way to close to the pads not one punch thrown was the full extension of the harms when sparing our a tournament you will struggle with the reach distance to your opponent's
You look quick and have good reflexes. Maybe its just the camera angle, but why no power on the punches? Also, do you do other drills where he's walking & turning? Those are SO much harder than when the target is stationary.
We do alot of different drills. This one in particular is just for muscle memory. No power, not speed, not footwork, just muscle memory. This was only about a 3 minute drill, thats all. This is just a phase in boxing training that I wanted to share with you guys.
For some who have never trained for a fight... Check out a camp one day. You work on different things at different times and then put it all together. Just learning how to throw a really good jabs takes forever and a day. Ask any "real" boxer.
i love the rhythm and rapid punching....and i also appreciate that he is forcing u to move ur head. there are several things wrong though. i read that this was ur first session with him...but here's a few things to think about.... i don't like how u both seem to be leaning in. he isn't allowing for u to fully turn into ur shots. ur right shoulder hardly comes forward when u throw it. u both seem very stationary and square. he's almost slapping at ur fists moreso than u are sticking or snapping ur punches. i think the flashy mittwork is not necessary in boxing. it's become popularized because of roger and floyd...but a lot of what they do is simply for show. ur explanation of working on ur own jab illustrates to me that u understand this. good luck with ur training and keep up the good work.
Its good. good maintenance of defense/form etc. Minor point though, loosen up your arms and upperbody a bit, get some fluidity in the side to side you look a bit tense.
i was wondering about his padwork what do you think about him meeting you half way when you punch? like slaps the pads and it seems the punch gets like 40 percent extension ? like see this coach and how he lets his finger fully punch [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egIfayF05Gg[/ame] but you are very very good espically for just 2 years of boxing great work where did u train before
