Fair assessment, I guess, but two of the times I saw him, that future P4P stud seemed to stand out, and I'm hoping we see more of that Green come January 17. Care to elaborate on what you mean?
I agree. Seems like this fight is too early for Mean Joe. I think he's got good talent and potential, and seems mentally tough, too, but this fight feels rushed.
I am totally out of the boxing loop! Is it true that Green might not be fighting because of a kidney stone?
I've been unimpressed with him. Seems to lack some power..and overall...nothing great in any particular area. He's solid, but I don't see great chances for him against the Martinez that fought Bunema. Fortunately for him Martinez has not always been consistent.
Against Torres? I watched that fight and he didn't look washed up to me. He fought a tough veteran with a good record and took a wide UD in a difficult fight. For a guy with 20 fights I thought green looked prertty good. I do think they are moving him along too fast by putting him in with Martinez now. To me it seems like too much of a step up.
I'm pulling for Mean Joe Greene myself but he is the underdog against a very crafty veteran in Sergio Martinez but if Greene can land his right hand punch which has some good power on it then the fight may turn in his favor but I do see Martinez winning a clear UD, just to be honest.
I've only seen Martinez in the Bunema fight wherein he demonstrated both top notch handspeed and a real natural feel for the game. I don't want to generalize too much off of one performance, but I admit to being a bit puzzled why Greene's people--I believe he is promoted by Seminole Warriors--would put him in with a fighter of such a high caliber right now.
Not yet, but there's a good chance he will. Ishe Smith is willing to step in for Greene on short notice.
