Sure. He's no world beater, but like I said, Greene has been inactive. You can slam this kid all you want, but he's giving it his best shot, and I wish him luck.

I'm not slamming this kid for taking his best shot, I'm slamming you for thinking he even has a reasonable shot in the first place.

This whole TPS nonsense has skewed your outlook on boxing.

You're making far too much of this 'inactivity'.

Greene is going to school this kid.

Rummy, I PREDICTED that Greene will win. Saying Raines has a shot, however small, is not the same as saying he will - or is even likely to - win.

Part of me is pulling for him because I watched him come along, and because Tim is working his corner - but do I think it is in any way likely he'll beat Greene?? No, I do not.

But that slim hope, and my familiarity with Raines' background and career, is what makes this fight far more interesting fight than your typical ESPN prelim for me.

Likewise, I've followed Greene's career since I first saw him fight in Manhattan a few years back, and have watched him fight on numerous occasions thereafter.

The fact that he is going up against a fighter who is affiliated with that ******* Goodson makes this even more interesting for me.

I hope Greene totally embarrasses him.

You and I seem to be the ones most hyped up about this fight!! See, people don't realize, it's not necessarily whether it's a top level fight that makes it interesting - it's whether you have some kind of emotional stake in it.

I expect that this will be a fairly one sided fight for your guy, but if Raines could spring the upset - oh boy, it would be a real life Rocky story!:happy

    Point taken.

Even still, despite having numerous doubters around here, I still feel that, at 23 years old, Greene still has the potential to someday be fighting at (or near) the top level.

Regardless, that's not happening in this one.

Honestly, after seeing the footage, I'd be surprised if Raines even managed to win any rounds, but we'll see soon enough.

I think he'll win a couple. As you know I predicted a decision win for Greene, but I think it might be somewhere around the 78-74 range. If Delray makes it any closer, frankly, that's a victory even in losing. Obviously if he wins, it's huge. But I think we'll see a fairly comfortable decision win for Greene.

For Raines, this is very high risk/high reward fight. But a guy like him, if he's gonna go anywhere in the sport, has to take these kinds of risks. Otherwise, he'll just be another ordinary journeyman. This is like the lottery for this kid. Most likely, he'll lose - but if he hits it, wow, it's worth a million bucks!!! :good

I don't know about that, Zakman.

Greene has good ring movement and is much faster and stronger than Raines. From what I've seen of him, Raines usually isn't that easy to hit, either.

I've seen him shutout fighters considerably better than Delray.

I think Joe Greene pitches a shutout for as long as it goes, and probably stops him before all is said and done.

Raines just looks too amateurish to be thrown in there against such a well-schooled fighter.

Well, we'll see. I think it will go the distance, and Raines will win a round or two.

I'm gonna be watching closely. This is likely as close as any of the TPS-related guys will ever come to boxing stardom, Charlie's claims that he'll be fighting Pavlik to the contrary!

Kind of mid-west clubfighter type. On the high end of that species, but definetely nothing above this. His manager claims he's greatly improved, but it remains to be seen how he does against this level of competition. Even though I'm kind of rooting for him, I'm not optimistic.
