LOL, this reminds me of when we'd take turns giving and taking bodyshots. That was dumb! :-(

exactly mate , great training tool and i love them.

Dont know many people that would drop a 8kg kettle bell or dumbell on their stomach, yet med ball is a good idea for some reason

straight legged leg raises or v-ups from a pull up bar no one wants to do them for a reason

Sit-ups, catching and throwing the medicine ball while you are doing them, is a good way to finish your training session.

using them will up your pain tolerance, plus your bones and cartilage will get stronger {denser}. look up ,when them people that break concrete with there hands how there hand bones get denser ,so over time they can break more and more.but the brain does not get stronger ,just damaged

Are you suggesting that your bones will get stronger from dropping a medicine ball on your abs?

You said something irrelevant about breaking concrete then something random about the brain...? What are you on about?

I'll go against the consensus and say it can be beneficial.

Being hit to the body correctly causes a sort of shock. Being used to experiencing the shock/pain can help. It doesn't hurt less, but your brain knows that it isnt the end of the worlkd and that it isnt debilitating.

The reason I throw a ton of bodyshots is that it freezes people up. If you take a good punch to the body, you instinctively ask yourself "how bad was that one? Am I going to feel that and go down in 5 seconds?" If you're used to that jolt and that sickening feeling, you know you can punch through it and keep going. If you aren't, you might freeze up and wait, which will get you moidered.

Still, I'd take trial and error in sparring over a ton of ab slamming. But if it gives you confidence, do it. As Satan once said, "Ye shall not surely die."

the muscle tissue is covered in this wrapper.

like seen on a chicken breast

    This content is protected

when the wrapper breaks thats when you get bruised.

by repeatedly exposing the muscle to minimal impact the wrapper increases in thickness.

soo essentailly you can imagine your muscle in a ziploc bag, with repeated impact that zimploc bag becomes more of a leather pouch.

this allows you to take more impact before bruising occures and it also causes the impact to be dispersed over the muscle more evenly.

as far as medicine ball training its very possible that it can cuse damage if you go overboard, i really dont know about that or what the best way to do this kind of exercise is. i do know for a fact that repeted impacts to any muscle will improve its ability to get hit.

personally id say having some one throw the medicine ball at your stomach while your standing and then you catching after it bounces off would be better then laying down and having some one drop it on you.

of course the ribs are bone and cartilegde, u don't just work the abs. i used to get alot of rib injuries before i tuffen them up.6 weeks to heal each time. got real tired of that so i beat the crap out of them with a hand held medicine ball{ 4pounder 1st them worked up to 8} .the sand fill rubber ones. work them untill sore without injuring them ,then wait 3 or 4 days for them to heal and repeat. and best i found for abs is an ab wheel,i seen tommyhearns in a video using one.and wow ,it builds the solarplexes up big time. shoot after that wheel the medicine ball ain't **** to the abs.i use it mainly for the ribs. and it will show u how tender the liver is so u realy learn to protect it with ur life lol

What an absolute load of ****. I love how you always talk as if you're an expert on everything when you're just making uneducated guessing. As soon as somebody tells you why you are wrong then you just move onto your next guess/wacky theory, often with no relevance to what the subject is. Honestly, you bring the quality of this forum down.

its funny how you have absolutely no proof to counter any of my arguments and just resort to asking for sparring videos or calling me an idiot.

your intelligent posts have value but posts like this where your just trolling are really what brings the lvl of the forum down.

Bunch of soft poofters in the house here...Ive had medicine balls slammed into me plenty of times. Been doing it over 8 years now and I dont have any internal probs apart from a sixpack buldging out. If you can't handle the heat get the F*#K out of the kitchen : )

You're telling me man, I chew on ****ing bricks and headbutt metal poles, I don't give a ****. You should see how large my balls have grown. I don't have any head problems, my head is still there on my shoulders and that's all that matters.
