How does this one play out at Jr. Welter? I am not sure if this has done before (and don’t really care so don’t post 8 links to previous threads)
Taylor liked to brawl too much and was easy to counter, Chavez hardly missed a shot vs Taylor who missed loads in that fight while throwing more punches than Julio, he wouldn`t throw more punches than Pryor who was better defensively and had far more power and a better chin, Arguello would have knocked Taylor out, he was really overrated, I do feel Taylor would land a lot of counter hooks before Pryor finished him though, Pryor was open to the counter hook, so it would be exciting while it lasted I feel.
I thought Taylor's effort against Chavez was world class personally. He almost got home in a fight against a great fighter on one helluva streak. Taylor was a very good fighter for a time. With his volume, workrate and stamina he'd trouble Pryor too.
It'd be one helluva fight, but it comes down to Mel being too hittable and not having enough firepower to keep the Hawk off him. Probably highly competitive for 7-8 rounds, then the Hawk starts to give Mel a whuppin. Pryor TKO 11.
I like this fight going the distance and agree with JT .. I just can't decide right now for some reason … but I do like the comment on not posting other links of it because it warrants a new discussion … close for me
Tough fight to pick. Most will say Pryor, but the speed of Meldrick could be a big problem. I will say UD with Meldrick winning over 12. 15 rounds? I would have to say Pryor. Meldrick's had great speed but he liked to dazzle on the inside and he would usually win the exchanges but still get hit. Even John Meekins marked up him..
