Paul Briggs had to win two WBC title eliminators here before getting a crack at Tomasz Adamek. He beat Jesus Ruiz by UD at Panthers after being decked early in the fight and followed it up with another UD win over Stipe Drews at Homebush. Drews didn't have a lot of luck coming here. Danny Green beat him in embarrassingly easy fashion 3 years later. Taking his WBA title in the process and ending his career.
They kept putting obstacles in front of Briggsy in his quest for a world title and he kept getting over them. In the end he was stiff to face such a dominant champion in Adamek, but he was good enough to give Adamek hell on two occasions.
Drews was awful. Briggs dominated him and Green decimated him. Amazing thing is they were the only losses of Drews career :admin
Wally Carr was involved in some great local fights. One that wasn't so great was his 3rd round KO win over another NSW fighter Wayne Cullen. Just prior to the fight Cullen's trainer Billy Moran dropped dead. Cullen never fought again after the Carr fight.

Too easy. Glad you found some good stuff. Youtube is very good. But there are plenty of other sites out there that offer video of old fights, and often free.
Thx... Got alot of spare time at moment, checking out a few old fights a day... Anyone see Scott Brower (spelling?) fight live, not the oldest however im told he was in a few decent local scraps... Thx again!!!!
Scotty Brouwer was a busy little fighter. Fought on a few of Jeff Fenech's undercards. Won a couple of national titles.
Maxie Carlos and George Bracken met 3 times at Festival Hall Melbourne. Carlos edged Bracken 2-1, but they were great contests. At least one of them is on boxrec.
Also found this on Elley Bennett: http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/bennett-elliott-elley-12195 http://www.smh.com.au/sport/boxing/...stralias-first-great-boxer-20100702-zu1o.html
Have a look around at some of the other sites that offer fights. There are quite a few and many are free. I would list them here, but I'm not sure if you can do that without getting into strife.
The referees I can remember from the TV Ringside days are Al Basten, Terry Reilly and Max Carlos. Anyone remember others??
