I think Foreman quit after the DLH-Mosley II disgrace. Either that or HBO fired him for calling it like it was.
You have a different perspective on fights when you actually are a fighter. George and Roy Jones just gotta say "hey Merchant,I actually WAS a fighter so I know what I'm talking about. You're an old *******,shut the **** up."
That may have been the breaking point for HBO and Foreman. I do remember Foreman and Merchant got into a heated exchange at the end of the fight. Foreman said something fishy was going on regarding the DLH-Mosley 2 decision. Merchant disagreed and Foreman told him he knew nothing about Boxing. I don't know if Foreman quit or if he was fired. There have been stories that Foreman didn't get along with Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant off screen. Some of the stories were that Foreman tried to get rid of all the booze for post-fight parties and other things like that, that the crew didn't appreciate.
I forget which fight this is from but ''Oh man, that chin is just like a candyshop! Because everytime he goes there he finds something sweet!''
Foreman: These guys are big for middleweights Merchant: They're light-heavyweights George Foreman: Light-heavyweights :yep:rofl:yep:rofl:yep:rofl:yep:rofl:yep
at the press conference for foreman vs moorer, atlas kept pushing foreman (which was a crazy thing to do given foreman could put you to sleep anytime), thats when big george said "go get me a sandwich:rofl"
