The Tyson aura was still around with the general public when he fought Lewis but in truth the last Holyfield fight was perhaps the end, fighting and struggling against a 70 year old 40 stone Dane Brian Neilson was perhaps not the best tune up to face Lewis. I had Lewis to win on points with Manny Steward forcing Lewis to jab Tyson into retirement.................
Anyone that was follow the whole, story line new Tyson wanted no part of lewis at that part of his career. Everyone new Tyson was in no kind of shape to fight anyone at top 10 which is why lewis court order to stop Tyson's warm up fight. If that was not a indication of who was going to win the fight, then I don't what other clue you could have needed.
I gave Tyson a punchers chance. Thought he could do an Oli McCall all over again. Well, he couldn't. But a prime, mid 80s Mike Tyson would have given Lewis all he could handle.
I had Lewis by KO. I won $50 from my buddy because he was so confident in Tyson he said Lewis wouldn't make it out of round 1.
i didnt know much about boxing back then, but i knew who tyson was and what he did in the ring, i said tyson simply because of his name, i didn't know at the time he was washed up.
I was sure Tyson would have knocked out Lennox just like Rahman did in the first Lennox-Rahman... But after the first round I knew it was over for Tyson.. Lewis was just too much ready... you know, **** happen
I'm a fan of both . . . more of Tyson's . . . but I picked Lewis because of size disparity and Tyson already lost to Holy by 11th round TKO few years back . . . I figure Lewis would study that fight well.
