one question this raises is do the ufc fighters do this clear in my mind is lesnar just battering and bloodying the hell out of coutore or Liddel getting KO'd over and over i agree that its better to smoke out the guy earl like camacho did to leonard in 5 rounds or tyson to holmes in 4 then 10 or 12 rounds of braindamage causing shots and batter embarrass bloody and bruise a legend
Had maidana taken it easy on morales it would have been lights out! How ive matured as a boxing fan lol
When Schmeling beat Walker and the ref didn´t want to stop the fight Schmeling said, if he doesn´t stop it, he would quit.
Depends on a couple of factors. 1) the behavior of the "legend". 2) does he have a big punch? 3) what's in his best interest. If he has a big mouth, looks down on his opponent or whatever I'm have no problem with him getting a trip to the woodshed. If the legend has a big punch (and carries it to the later rounds) it's stupid to carry the man through the fight. You might end up beïng punished or even ridiculed for your respect. Sometimes these old legends just don't know when to quit, and often measure it on their latest performances. If he goes 10 or 12 rounds with a young contender/champ who goes easy on the guy, he might have the feeling he's not past it enough. If he get's punished and stopped in a brutal way, he might finally see the light.
