Who the hell is the opponent, even? I think he just announces fake fights for fun. POST SCRIPT: Boxrec has nothing lined up for him. I can half believe he is coming back because he almost got the Gassivv fight, but...naaaaaaw. It's Michael Hunter.
You couldn't sabotage a promising career harder if you tried. Theres way less talented fighters than Hunter getting meaningful fights.
I'll give you a very good clue. His opponent will be a part timer. Michael Hunter clearly does not want to fight a single fighter that is barely quarter decent.
I do know the person who runs this Twitter is beyond delusional. Hunter has been done for years. The last time he resembled a top HW contender was against Povetkin nearly SEVEN years ago.
What became of his career (due to his own gaffs, Don King and other things) is really a damn shame. He was never going to be the man (Usyk exists), but for a time, Michael Hunter would've given every other HW not named Usyk severe migraines. If he's fighting, yeah he should probably just sit down. He's absolutely missed his train
I see him at a local fitness gym once in awhile and it really does seem like he wants the big meaningful fights, at least that’s what he says… but I think he’s hard to deal with and he’s not that marketable, plus you don’t know what version of him showing up. It’s a shame.
Didn't he basically disappear after he dropped out of the Hrgović fight? What was his reason for that?
I don't remember anything about this but I do remember that his career went off the rails when the WBC accused him of missing anti-doping protocals. 1. The WBC Clean Boxing Program Warned Him (2021) During the pandemic, World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman publicly scolded Michael Hunter on Twitter. Hunter and light heavyweight Jesse Hart were flagged for being absent or unreachable for random out-of-competition testing administered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA). [1]
