Well I only had two choices. Should have done my homework Phil. Your quality control process is to be feared. Mike is a real homey. Twice he's been out of the States. IBO in Sth Efrica (Hope he didn't nick your gig mate) & Korea. With that sort of judging, Wisconsin is his best (safest) bet.
No-one nicks my gigs mate! Not sure what the story was but we only used him the once! The fight poster on the side of the van with Thomas Mashaba on it was the give away!
Apparently judge Mike Fitzgerald, who scored Katsidis' fight 112 -116 in favour of Escobido, is to be 'investigated'. The other judges had it 118-110 and 116-112, both for Kats. Perhaps a vision test might be in order for our friend Mr Fitzgerald as well!
I found it hard to give Escobedo any rounds at all. Although I wouldn't argue if somebody scored a rd or two for him. Berestein asked Escobedo at the end of the 8th (?) if he wanted to continue. Yet an imbecile judge had him winning the fight. Disgusting.
I think he probably won 1&7 definitely then probably a 50:50 shot at the 11th. You'd really have a hard time giving him much other than that to be honest. I did have a weird feeling of a bull**** robbery coming in, especially after they read the first card out, but fortunately the right man got the nod. Kats has definitely added to his stock with a good win against a class opponent. The guy deserves it, so all credit to him.
Well, I'd say this....lets not pretend judges aren't influenced or coerced in to scoring in favor of a particular fighter. Their is no logical reason for that judge to score in favor of Escobedo. Forget the "he had a different view to the other two judges" and all that crap they trot out. He scored it 8-4 for Escobedo. How on earth did that kid win eight rounds, especially when you consider his trainer asked him if he wanted to continue with four rounds to go.
Why is it that when Katsidis has a fight coming up Gren & Dean get talked about...their apparent fight will be later on. I will be supporting Katsidis on March 27th :bbb
