i'd favour roy against most LHWs, but Spinks was an exception, he was ore than capable of going up to HW and holding his own against some of its ATGs, not just good HWs. That's astounding. This guy would wreck the K bros. Edge to Spinks, who will eventually work close enough to hurt roy and this gives him a good chance of stopping someone who was a light MW, a massive concession. Roy would benefit from a protective ref to escape and win on points, but he might well pull that off with hit and run alone.

hi Louds, Yeah Fosters a bit far back for me, only see his Ali frazier outings which are impossible to gauge much from, he was up against the very best ever on those nights. I think Roy was fast enough to escape hard hitting Moorer, but then a KO loss to Moorer was likely as a points win for a dancing Jones. Moorer was no chump, but he was no Spinks either.
Actually the only advantage for Roy is speed. Mike hits harder, is bigger and taller, has a superior chin and a superior boxing IQ. Mike stops Jones, and so does Dwight Muhammed Qawi. And, quite frankly, Foster is just a fraction bigger than Spinks.
Spinks had a great jab and Rjj had trouble with Griffins jab before knocking him out. Aside that Spinks had more power in his right enough to KO heavyweights Rjj only had speed adv, but not too much. In a trilogy Spinks wins 2 out of 3.
Spinks was the total deal at LHW. Jones was ultra talented to such a degree he could break most of the rules against good/top opposition and get away with it. jones clips Spinks here and there winning a few of the early rounds. Spinks dismantles Jones over time. Jones never fights Spinks again and claims he was poisoned.
Exactly how I see it. Even with his supreme elusiveness, I can't see him avoiding the "Jinx" for 12 rounds without being clipped big and like you said, he had the skills to land.
Thanks for the reply. I've got a lot of fights to watch. I can honestly say that I've never seen any of Moorer's fights at LHW. I've recently watched quite a bit of Spinks's career at LHW though, and I'm just getting into Foster's career. So at the moment, I can't really disagree with what's been said. But I would like people to think of the 168 versions of Roy, when discussing these fantasy fights.
Jones would have a tougher time against Michael Moorer than Spinks. Michael Moorer was a lot like Tarver but with ridiculous power too. Moorer is the one fighter who might have given a prime Jones trouble at 175.
I wouldn't pick Michael Moorer over the 2nd tier greats of the division like Qawi, let alone the top tier like Spinks, Foster, Jones. He had a great record but it came against weaker opposition, and his flaws were on display against Leslie Stewart, when his power bailed him out.
Moorer at 175 would violently Shatter Roy's Glass Jaw. So would Spinks. I don't know how any sane person can pick Jones. Both Spinks and Moorer went up to Heavyweight and fought legit Heavyweights and won. Roy went up to Heavyweight and picked the worst trinket beltholder. Shows you the difference in the mindset between Spinks and Moorer and Glass Jaw Roy Jones.
You have admitted to me that Spinks and Moorer moving up was in a much weaker HW era than when Jones moved up where you had Massive talented HW's in the Klits, and Lewis.. Come on Rico, be fair. Not to mention, Spinks and Moorer were naturally larger men than Roy was, who started at 154. Spinks was destroyed by Tyson and Moorer was knocked senseless by old shot Foreman.. I think it is safe to say they would have had little success against Lewis or Wlad and Vitali. Hell, huggy bear Ruiz may have even beat them.:deal
