Who was it on here that said the only way to beat Flowers was to ko him? (pleasedon't take that literally Classic forum)

Anyway, two great, great fighters, so there is no wrong answer, but i'll take Flowers to strictly box and move and frustrate LaMotta, getting through some of Jake's most furious moments and winning a decision. I don't reckon he would play into Jake's traps when he lays off him to draw him in.

I would take Flowers via decision he was meant to be an excellent boxer his chin let him down sometimes but I don't think Jake has the power to stop him. From what I've read Flowers deserved the decision against Walker too. Tiger via UD.

If the bull you are talking about is Ferdinand, this could be a very, very weird fight.*

*To understand this, you have to be familiar with an old Disney cartoon named "Ferdinand the Bull" from 1938.

Flowers was vulnerable to a puncher, but Jake wasn't much of a puncher. I see Flowers outworking him for a decision. Also, LaMotta had a tendency to run down in the later rounds.

Yourchances of beating Flowers increased exponentialy if you were a puncher because he was darn near impossible to outpoint. Verry few people achieved it and when they did it was always controvertial.

this is a bad draw for LaMotta no question. He could win but my guessis that he wouldnt.

    So I pick Flowers.

I think Lamotta would beat Flowers.

Now, Flowers fought light-heavys AND decisioned Greb. So, clearly he wasn't bothered by A) bigger guys B)pressure fighters/swarmers.

I just go for the man I've seen, and I know Lamotta could hurt fighters. I've seen nothing of Flowers and can only assume he wasn't anywhere near as fluent or fast as Ray Robinson.

Assumptions I know, but I think it's fair to give someone a shake if they impress you on film. And Lamotta does me.

I should go for Flowers because of the reasons I outlined; you can't think he'd struggle with lamotta.

But, as it's a one-off and not a series I take The Raging Bulls tenacity, strength and will to pull him through in a close decision in a very interesting clash of styles.

I'd go with Flowers as he beat Greb who was surely Lamotta on steroids. Simplistic reasoning but thats the best Im bothered to do

Flowers. Clever and rough. Narrow points win, maybe split.

Flowers by decision. LaMotta can't outpoint Flowers and doesn't have the power to hurt him.
