I agree that his defense is better than most inside fighters, but he is still frequently involved in wars/brawls where he takes a lot of punches. Those fights demand a lot from his body. I could see Cotto reaching his peak with the experience of his next 6 fights. I think 2010 will be his absolute best.
Yes, but I don't think he is fully evolved yet, and therefore not yet prime. I do agree that over his next 6 fights he will continue to evolve a style, where takes more and more care of himself without losing momentum; picking his moments - relying that his body shots will gas his oppenents etc. However, he will need to lessen the amount of fights he has - especially if he picks B+, through A and elite opponents to a max of 2 per year, so his body can fully recouperate and he can reflect on lessons learned. If you think he will peak in 2010, it should mean that according to you he will have a prime that goes 27(28)-31(32), which is okay with me. I just like to reduced the period where I think a person is prime, but that is knitpicking. Edit: People like Vasquez and Rafael Marquez have absolutely no defence, and they are still going strong, despite getting hit without end. So if they can handle it, I have no worries for Cotto.
:good also cotto cotto has improved with every fight, from quintana to judah to mosley, you see a difference each time.
