I've always had a sneaking suspicion that Cuevas was the better fighter and would have beaten Carlos.

But I think the smart money would have picked Palomino.

    Very political answer lol

I think Cuevas stops him. Palomino is far too hitable for Pipino's devastating power and he'd end up in a war with him. Although I think King Carlos was better.

I think that Carlos Palomino wins this war against Cuevas, he took Roberto Duran;s best for 10 rounds in June 1979, he tasted the canvas once but stayed in there with Duran. Duran later beat Cuevas too but kayoed him.

I used to wonder myself too, but with Leonard, Duran, Hearns, and Benitez in the picture, it sure complicated things.

Well I think Palomino starts as favourite, but i don't see him being able to keep Cuevas away for 15 rounds.

    Cuevas to pull the upset.

I used to ride on a palomino named Old Chester. Every morning I'd wake up and ride him bareback, whisper in his ear that this was in his genes that he be ridden this way. He never had a word of complaint. And I wouldn't have tolerated it if he did.
