Ive been keeping my eye on him for a while blade. I wish there could be some good colombian fighters in the welterweight division. That would be nice. Besides Perez what other colombian do you think can make some noise? I know he is just beginning but Darley Perez is someone i have been keeping my eye on.
Somebody actually had an awesome post (a person from and around the Columbian boxing scene) about the decline of gyms which led to the rise in crude but powerful sluggers. It was a great post that I wish we still had.
Urango has a big fight coming up against Alexander and if he wins that fight it opens a lot of doors for him and gives him different options like an unification fight with Bradley or Khan in a big money fight in England or maybe even move up to welter and fight some of the top guys there, can you imagine how brutal a fight between him and Margarito would be :yikes As for the new up and coming colombian fighters i really dont know much about them but i'll follow your advice and im going to keep an eye on Darley Perez.
Winning the fight with Alexander is a must for Urango. If he wins i can see him taking on Khan. Thing is that Urango is so crude at times. But he does have a good chin heart and power. Hopefully Evangelista can mold him a bit better. Urango is huge and built like a brick shithouse but he didnt gain any weight in his welterweight fight with Berto. Maybe hes too small for 147.
Urango should just work on his legs to gain weight. You look at him and he looks like a middleweight, but then his legs are toothpicks.
Man this dude is dope! That herky-jerky movement... the timing... short crisp punching out of the defensive posture... The music put it over the top!
Really? You should take Bladerunner's advice and watch his fight against Zaragoza to see him at the very peak of his abilities. At his best he was about as skilled a defensive counter-puncher as I've ever witnessed on film, and that's no exagerration. The Minus fight is probably one of his worst to watch, actually, though more due to Minus's completely negative style cancelling out any potential action than any real fault on Lora.
Interesting. :think So it could be that with heightened focus on the amateur program, some of the country's better-schooled athletes might make it onto the pro scene and wind up surpassing their brethren from the coast?
