Lamanna is putting his forearms together narrowly in front of his face, elbows tucked into his nipples, catching the piercing 1-1-2 of Davis. Lamanna is countering with very light but cleanly scoring jabs and long rights on the step back. Davis is pressuring steadily but getting largely blocked and then smothered as Lamanna starts to lurch forward and push down on him.

Round 6

Lamanna is doing effective jab and grab work, depending respectively on whether Davis is far or near. Davis is still gluing himself to Lamanna and spanking him on the sides but not getting much leverage on shots and unable to fire anything clean upstairs. Lamanna backs out and lands counter rights and light jabs before stopping to lean down on Davis again to stunt his assault, limiting it to ineffective body punching.

10-9 Lamanna...all three of Lamanna's being very close while Davis bossed the 1st-3rd...

Round 7

Lamanna is dancing around Davis and popping in jabs. Davis is reaching out for a piece of Lamanna's body with a stiff jab but not completing the journey. Left hook attempted by Davis, with Lamanna skirting around it with needlework jabs.

Round 8

Lamanna is scoring with lead rights from outside, shuffling left. Davis tries a right and hits Lamanna on the breastplate, unable to reach his intended target of Lamanna's jaw. Lots of rights sprinkled in lightly by Lamanna from outside. Lamanna dips forward and throws soft left and right uppercuts in succession as Davis seems to freeze up, tired. Credit to him, the kid is actually going for a stoppage! BIG LEFT HOOK AND RIGHT HAND BY LAMANNA, BOTH LANDING BANG ON THE CHIN!! Davis takes it and wrestles Lamanna away with both gloves. Davis is firing underhanded body shots, nothing on them. BIG hooks and whip-crack rights by Lamanna inside. Davis is standing up to everything but wobbling slightly at the bell.

That got unexpectedly fun at the end.

Lamanna showed his character with the way he turned momentum around plus attempting to close the show.

Davis showed lots of heart not only surviving the last couple of minutes but firing back as depleted as he was.

Mike Jones vs. Jaime Herrera, 10 rounds @ welterweight

 

Round 1

Herrera is rapidly circling to his left and keeping a high tight guard. Herrera tries a few light jabs. Jones counters with a jab on the body. Right downstairs by Herrera, short. They clinch and grapple. Jones is spinning Herrera around in his grasp and tapping him on the back with either glove. Break ordered. The ref tells both to keep it clean. Probing jab up top by Herrera, missing Jones' nose by an inch or two. Jab on the body by Jones. BIG left hook by Jones jumping in, placing a right on the other side below Herrera's elbow. Nothing but light left jabs to the head from Herrera. Another clinch. Jones lets his arms go slack and doesn't punch or struggle, showing compliance with the ref.

Bailey is probably fishing somewhere, or kayoing his wife's labia.

 

Round 2

Herrera is putting nonstop flurries in Jones' face. Jones is getting pushed across the ring, only able to get a jab in edgewise as Herrera rattles off straight flurry after straight flurry, as hard as he can, maintaining the relentless pace for over two minutes. A few nice doubled-up counter jabs on the backfoot by Jones but he is getting hit and Herrera is the ring general. BOOM! Counter 1-2 by Jones and Herrera is dropped just before the bell!
