That's what I was wondering too. I think the fought Farrell in April 2007. Then Pianeta fight was scheduled twice but both times it was cancelled. Including this I've seen some 3 or 4 Marrone fights. I thought the opponents were known to be so bad he didn't have to worry about boxing neither protecting his head but again same thing. Another thing that that is a bit confusing about Marrone is that he doesn't seem fit. Hat all. How come Duva is putting effort on a kid that doesn't take his biz seriously? Some one mentioned "Marrone actually stayed down for the count, KO not TKO." but that wasn't the case. After Pianeta connecting 4 decent punches in a row, the ref stepped between the guys while Marrone was fighting the laws of gravity and barely managed to stay on his feet. Then the ref turned to Marrone and waved him out. I think Marrone would have had a 1 out of 5000 chance that Pianeta would have missed the next punch and he would have managed to clinch and hold till his feet would co-operate with the rest of the body. In practice Marrone was defendless and would only have taken more punches and possibly get badly hurt. Some call these early stoppages but I think the ref did absolutely the right thing.
Because shortly after his last fight, his younger brother got into a car accident and died. The car flew into a ditch and the poor kid drowned. Marrone has been going through alot dealing with the loss of his brother. Mike is a young, respectful, super nice guy and I don't know why he gets hated on around here. Some of these people are ****ing pathetic.
I live near where the guy trains and I think it is how overhyped he was by Duva. Except for his close training people I heard he was not that talented to be hyping him like Duva was from people who watched him. I think that Duva caused this resentment and do hear he is a good kid.
Marrone hasn't got anything and if Duva really cared about him, he would have told Marrone to hang up his gloves long ago.
