Ali began his prime in 66 - 67 ... he was still a bit young in 64 .. the prime Ali of 66 v.s. the Tyson of 87, I'd pick Ali by decision in a very tough fight ...
well i disagree about that Ali was pretty green and wasn't as strong as he was in 66 Tyson in 87 was an animal and would get to Ali
Ali in 64 was so fast and slippery. Dodging punches like nothing. In my opinion his best fight ever. Williams fight was good but Ali was facing a fighter who people thought was unbeatable.
But Henry Cooper, George Chuvalo, and Karl Mildenburger caught Ali around his peak. Joe Frazier caught Ali, too. Ali was always hittable, but he didn't meet anyone who could cut off the ring well until he met Joe Frazier. I believe Frazier would catch and hurt any version of Ali. It's his style. Also, Tyson is faster than Frazier, punches harder, and can score a knockout with either hand. With Kevin Rooney in his corner, Tyson wins this fight. If not by KO, then by a brusing decision.
ali was not in his prime against cooper63, he was green, ali dominated chuvalo completely. frazier never faced prime ali. frazier would give problems to prime ali but frazier was nothing like tyson, frazier was much stronger than tyson mentally,he had much more stamina, he had better left hook and he had the pressure style to give ali and any boxer the hell. you have the proof, tyson was frustrated against tillis, green and tucker. and he could not ko an average fighter like smith, with average chin, and he was not very mobile. tyson could not ko ali even in dreams. ali was the better fighter and he was stronger mentally, he had the chin.the speed, the reflexes, the heart, the footwork, the stamina to beat any version of tyson.
Liston was in his mid-thirties and much slower than a prime Tyson ... in addition he had been highly inactive over the previous few years, just having less than two rounds of fighting ... That Liston cannot compare to the prime Tyson of Berbick to Spinks ...
Agreed .. the Ali of 66-67 was a man while the 64 version was still a kid .. he made a huge leap and was growing with the title ...
Ali has never faced anyone as explosive, fast, and defensive capabilities as Tyson. Popping his jab out at a bobbing and weeving Tyson would only allow Tyson within punching range and there he would unleash hell that Ali could only dream about. Body shots, head shots, uppercuts, and physical strength he hadn't yet faced. He'd slip his jab, work the body over and over until Ali couldn't take it anymore. Tyson with Rooney in his corner would come up with the perfect gameplan & if I ain't mistaken, Cus D'Mato came up with a gameplan to beat Ali.
