ali faced cooper in 1963, he was still very green at this time, ali 64 was better. ali 63 would not beat peak tyson, ali 64-67 yes.

Ali in 64 was essentially facing an old champion in Sonny Liston with limited speed... Ali of course was awesome but he got caught quite a few times in that fight. All Liston had going for him was a long powerful left jab, power, and a very long reach but this all got negated by Ali's speed and movement, Tyson would be cutting off the ring and coming at Ali with body shots and combinations, which Liston never did.

A PRIME Liston would be a much harder fight for Ali as he used his jab more and was faster in his combos and probably had more snap, but I'd probably pick both prime Liston and prime Tyson to beat Ali in 64', just my opinion

If you watch the fight Ali never got hit with anything that would trouble him. Round 5 was the only round but that becaused he was having eye problems.
Liston was not way past his prime.
I would say Ali got hit more in his fight against Zora Folley in 67. Though I don't think he was trying in that fight.

of course Ali 65-67 would beat both liston and tyson but in 64 he wasnt completely seasoned yet i dont think i mean liston a a few years back would have been much different
