In order for Tyson's weak mental resolve to become an issue, Quarry would have to survive the first 7 or 8 rounds before he'd be able to capitalize on it. NOT GONNA HAPPEN..........
Quarry also has to stop Tyson from landing on him . Tyson did'nt crumble when you hit him he crumbled when you stopped him from landing on you.
This is a terrible fight for Quarry. He was too small and too prone to getting busted up. I'll give him 3 rounds in this fight, and thats only out of shear respect for him and nothing else. Its amazing how Tyson only loses 1 of his first 46 pro fights in his prime, and all of a sudden some people seem to think that any ranked fighter in history would have just walked all over him, regardless of how many times they were busted up in less fights. For whatever reason, some folks prefer to place more emphasis on a single bad performance rather than focussing on the remarkable reign the guy had, and how badly he destroyed numerous top raters. They also would rather look at the actual loss itslelf as opposed to breaking down some of the noticable reasons for his decline prior to that match. If the Mike Tyson that Douglas beat in 1990 was the same Tyson who crippled the division during the 80's, then I'm Mickey Mouse.
I think that Quarry would make it more interesting than people think. He would make clever use of movment and would counter Tyson prety much like Holyfield did. I will say Tyson TKO in 8 while behind on the scorecards.
What makes you think he wouldn't totally crumble (mentally and physically) under Tyson's firepower & pressure like he did against Frazier both times?
When i hear someone say that this and or that fighter would beat Tyson because they wre not scared of him. This tells me that they did'nt actually see any 80s fights from Tyson but go with the as long as you can stand up to him you will beat him myth because they heard someone else say it.
