Why not envision Lassie vs. Godzilla?

All right, for the sake of argument, if Ali had to do it, he would prepare accordingly to run for dear life, holding and holding on the way. He most probably could not win and at least once would get tagged by a huge left hook or right hand, getting hurt, but I believe he could weather the storm because he was so hard to catch cleanly, unlike Holmes, a sucker for the right hand.

After such a shot, Tyson would be all over him, but Ali could probably summon the strength to grapple to a standstill. Ali hated the idea of being kayoed and he could probably squeak past the first ten or twelve rounds or so, sorrily banged up but en route to the distance.

On the other hand, I believe Ali always held something back. He also hated the idea of hurting someone. Notice how he didn't paw or pitty-pat against George Foreman. He meant business and his punches were considerably crisper and more powerful than against, say, Chuck Wepner. Push comes to shove, and if for any reason Tyson folds mentally, particularly late in the fight, Ali has a chance to at least finish with a flourish or produce one of his patented miracles.

    Disagree Prime,

Ali held something back but he frequently unleashed his power and wrath on opponents once they get too comfortable. He didnt pitty pat against Foreman because he needed to get George's attention and fast.

Tyson woudlnt fold to Ali and if he's fighting post manila he'd really do damage. I would expect a clean KO within 5-6 rounds.

Tyson definitely would thrash a fading Ali.. Only Ali's legendary chin and heart would stand up to the beating.. Although I can see Ali barely surviving to the final bell..

He would do better as he was younger than the Holmes that fought Tyson and still active .... that being said he gets stopped in five or so ... not just the power but the speed ..

I'm sure that this thread has been done recently. No matter though,as it's always enjoyable pitting different versions of fighters up against each other. In this case,Tyson would undoubtably win. Muhammad might still be cute enough, and have enough left to go the distance. Tyson by wide decision.

My money would be on any version of Ali up to and including the Manilla fight beating a prime Tyson.

    V.Much Agree m8. :thumbsup

And 1963 Ali VS 1988 Tyson is probs a 50/50 fight IMO.

Other E.G's of fighters who definetely Beat 1988 Tyson -

    Holyfeild 1988-1999

    Lennox 1996-2003

    Foreman 1973-1977

    Frazier 1967-1975

    Old Foreman 1989-1994

    - can't be bothered to do any-more E.G's.

    V.Good Xpert post. :thumbsup

IMO 1977 Ali has an 40% chance to KO 1988 Tyson like how you said in your post.

Ali v.nearly KO'd Shavers in Round 15 with a mint flourish - teh thing is even Old Ali cant be stopped in 5 Roundz And once it get to round 6ish Tyson will be gettin' tired, so that when Ali will start winning a lot of teh rounds. Tyson was always v.mentally weak so he could fold mentally like you Said, cos Ali would be standing-up to him, holding'n'hitting him, clinching when Tysons' T-Rex arms get in range. Ali could finish Tyson with a flurry in Round 10, if Douglas can do it, Why not ALI?? My Guess is Tyson close decision for 10 roundz, 60% chance of Tyson split decision over 12 roundz [BUT - he could get KO'd late] And for 15 roundz - Ali win by Wide decision Or probabley a KO.

Not sure about OLD Foreman !!!! The young Foreman would certainly destroy a prime Tyson.

Old Foreman gave Prime Holyfeild a v.good slugfest - BUT Prime Tyson was DESTROYED by Old 'vander. Tyson ducked old Foreman in 1989 And 1995 IMO cos he was v.scared of Real-power from a BIGGER Bully with attitude who WILL not take any shite from some 5'10 punk-ass kid.

I am v.pleased you agree young foreman would certainly DESTROY prime Tyson. Style-match-up is v.Wrong for Tyson, look what Prime Foreman did to prime Frazier!! - Bounced him around liek a ball, lifted him off his ****ing feet with haymaker uppercuts And killed him in 2 Roundz!! You got to remember that Frazier Head-movement way better then Tyson's predictable overated crap too, so no way Tyson avoiding them Haymakers. I 100% sure teh same thing would happen to Tyson. Prime Tyson might even get KTFO in round 1 by Prime Foreman as he never had teh HEART to get up when knocked-down like proper-fighters do.
