No. Obviously. The comparison only works one way.

But my point is that the 70s-ealry 90s heavies, And that includes the big tall ones like tucker, Douglas Lewis and Bowe. They had p4p very good skill level even without considering that they are "supposed" to be less agile and coordinated than a welterweight.

The Heavies of today look like crap. So Ruiz beating up Joshua means nothing in comparison to a Tyson who beat skilled heavies of similar size.

    And I like ruiz

Ruiz definitely beats the Tyson with the broken back. I think it was spinal.

all that was so bad about Joshua was he did not win. He landed the same kinds of punches that has won him fights in spectacular fashion so far.

Sure Ruiz didn’t fight better than we thought. But it worked on Joshua. Give the man credit.

yeah, in comparison to Joshua, Tubbs was never a champion. Tubbs never beat a good fighter. Those guys were swapping an alternate belt (within a stable) in lousy fights. Nobody cared or regarded Tubbs as a serious threat to decent fighters. Nor was anybody surprised he lost that belt in his next fight. Tubbs was never a significant feature in the division, Nearly beating Riddick Bowe or not.

At any one time there will be champions within a division. Joshua has a number of belts. Whatever you think of him, he had great significance in the division and was the man to beat. Joshua won those titles in the ring. Knocked out the latest dominant champ. So it does not mean nothing. Today it means everything. You can’t just downgrade a champion who sold out soccer stadiums into meaning nothing because the guy who beat him does not fit the modern idea of what a heavyweight should look like. Ruiz beat a decorated guy who won great fights at elite level.

Andy Ruiz should be afforded the same significance Joshua just had in the division. He knocked out a genuine reigning champion. It wasn’t some D-list belt holder like Charles Martin or some handpicked guy in a vacant title fight. Fury Did not knock out a reigning genuine champion. Wilder didn’t knock out a reigning champion. Wilder only has a controversial draw with a linear champ.

Who was the last heavyweight to knockout a universally recognised reigning champion?

It would not be a good fight for Ruiz.. It would be quick. So quick that the fight would be over and people would be standing around saying what just happened.

I'm sure you don't believe this. Ruiz is on the level of some of the fighters Tyson annihilated on his way to the championship. Ruiz would be considered a journeyman nothing more in most era's. And what does that say about Joshua?

A ferocious Tyson knock out, though I imagine Ruiz would catch him with a couple of shots coming in...Mike at 19 was just something else, and I have trouble even putting certain ATGs up against him h2h at that age. He was a phenomenon, a freek of nature. I get the feeling he was so incendiary his incredible dominance was necessarily short lived.

Why do so many think Ruiz and others of today could even step into the ring with many of the ATG's, it's laughable, Tyson would wipe the canvas with his face, he would have ZERO Chance in 10 figths, it goes 10-0 for Tyson.

Tyson was a lot faster than Joshua. While Ruiz is tough Tyson would win through the three knock down rule. Simple.
