In a one off I pick Louis but in an extended series I repeat my assertion that prime Mike Tyson on a given night was capable of beating any heavyweight boxer who’s ever lived.

Would be one of the most watched fights in history if it happened. Two exceptionally good punchers with fast hands and skill. It’s a fight that I can see either man taking. What it really boils down to in my mind is who hurts the other badly first.

I want to lean towards Tyson here, I think Louis is the greater fighter but style wise this is a tough road for Joe especially early. I agree with your assessment on who hurts who first as being the winner.

It’s reasonable to pick Tyson. He was a fast starter and had a style that might have gotten to Louis.

Feel like Tyson is one of the most detrimental style matchups to Joe, due to his erratic fast paced style alongside his speed, power, defense, and durability. I don’t think Tyson would give Joe many opportunities to counter back.

That said, Louis is far more active in a clinch so with a more lenient ref who knows. Joe Louis is still Joe Louis.

Fast pressure fighters who come up from under and fight out of a crouch are not exactly one of Louis' best matchups.

Tyson gets discouraged in this fight really FAST....If you pick Tyson in this...you don't know s**t about the fight game...and NOTHING about boxing history!!!

Tyson quits in 7. Louis jabs his head off for six rounds, lands combinations in close when Tyson tries to crowd him before finally putting him down.

Louis was too good, wouldn't be intimidated, and had stamina to burn.

Louis might get floored, but he'd roar back for a stoppage in 8.

Mike works the angles and applies his power in greater amounts than Louis can. A good fight while it lasts. Joe would probably stun him for sure. But Mike would sting him hard and finish him good.

Louis can't stop Tyson from coming forward and gets hit first. Tyson obliterates him.

Least bias tyson fan. Tyson doesn't "Obliterate" idiot. We really need to find a way to keep casuals off here. Maybe an entrance exam?
