Mike Tyson Vs Lennox Lewis --- 1996?

What would have been the outcome, I know a lot of you out their would make it a Lewis formality but I don’t see it this way,Evander Holyfeild in their first fight continuously butted him and mike kept backing out! Up until holyfield threw in the illegal manoeuvres Tyson was doing quite well.


How do you guys see it going, it was going to go ahead but Holyfield was the bigger draw at the time.

Max Kellerman and a number of others, apparently think that the super heavyweight in Lennox Lewis would have beaten a prime Tyson, apparently ignoring the McCall and Rahman affairs.... I also feel that its pertinent, that even though Lewis was 37 years old against a 36 year old Tyson, we should acknowledge that Lewis was perhaps only 3 years past his prime, while Tyson was maybe 14 years past his, and had his career divided by 4 years of inactivity.... All this, and Tyson managed to take Lewis's best for 8 rounds, while nearly decking him in the first.... I think that first round display may very well have given us a glimpse of what Tyson may have done had this been a 1988 rendering of Iron Mike....

 

In 1996, Lennox would have won...in my opinion. He would have been totally focused, from training camp through the actual fight against Iron Mike, and it would have been very hard for 1996 Mike to have a chance to beat a focused Lewis.

tyson gets his calm drugs administered that he has been off since his winning streak
....even the post fight interview he was a frazzled mother****er... dazed and mother****ing confused.

whatever they had to calm the beast.... watch that fight again... look at him before the fight ...mother****in tranquelized

 

While Tyson's dominant run may have been short, I think Lewis showed far more vulnerability throughout his entire career... Tyson's weaknesses were the result of an otherwise perfect machine that was taken apart from the inside, whereas Lewis's problem's stemmed from an imperfect product in the making....Totally different animals..

Okay, in 1996 perhaps... I failed to read the entire title... Sorry... My bad... Still though, in 1996 Lewis looked less than invincible against a 35 year old Ray Mercer who was off for a full year, had lost most of his recent fights, and hadn't beaten a ranked opponent since 1991.... The fight was a draw in my eyes... Tyson might not have beaten this version of Lewis, when he was fresh out of prison, but he sure as hell would have had a chance..

 

indeed... a once ferocious fire inside ..that of a conquerer... quelled by the death of a father figure/ trainer and newfound pappy diggity don king.... plus the trophy wife and her evil ***** mom... literally talking **** about him as he sat there....tranquilized...

my friend from east ny..told me that when mike would come into this place that had gear and sneakers...they would close the shop...and he would pay for whatever anyone was holding at the time.... just cool like that in a strange manner.

 

Lewis Is the favorite over any version of Mike post Rooney.

I can't disagree.

Although there was a brief period from 1989 -1991, where Tyson might have still been a formidable foe for some greats, but nothing like he was during the Rooney days.. He was a changed man and not for the better.
