Tyson was **** in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. And worse than ****ing **** in 2005. However, in 2000 he looked relatively sharp. Young Wladimir Klitschko already had the ability to beat him, but probably not the experience or the confidence. Tyson post-1997 is very overrated. After the Holyfield fights and the ban for biting, and another spell in jail (1999), the guy was an absolute mess. Remarkable that he was built up again.
I wouldnt say he was overated. Yes he was a mental mess, but I think a lot of his boxing started to improve. He started utilzing angles and stepping off his shots to kind of compensate for his timing that never returned. I thought Brooks did a very good job with Tyson tweaking his style. You saw a bit of that in the Francis and Norris fights, and then he looked pretty decent against Golota too. I would say from a technical standpoint it was the best Tyson ever looked after prison. I spent the entire Francis camp in the gym with Tyson and Brooks and Brooks had him working on basic footwork and positioning more than anything, whether on the mitts or in sparring, because as I said in a previous post, he picked up a lot of bad habits under Bright and Mckinley.
Well we saw Botha do it, and Tyson was pretty close to fouling out of that fight too, but Brooks got him settled. Tyson was laid off from the road rage incident and looked pretty horrible in that fight. I dont think Wlad is capable of fighting the type of fight that Botha fought against Tyson, he just wasnt quick enough on his feet.
Wow, the classic forum has gone downhill in a hurry. I can't believe all of the people picking Mike Tyson.
I like this version the best post Holyfield. He certainly looked fit in 2003 and far better than the out of shape Botha through Lewis version.
i think he was as close to as quick to be honest..and much stronger...as long as he did some clinching....he would be fine...also if tyson did taste his power that could well make tyson question himself. of course wlads defense was not as good as it is now..he did not use distance as well..and did not even clinch as well..so it is definitly possible that tyson catches him..hurts him then finishes him..but i tend to think that wlad is the more likely winner.
The only Tyson the Wlad could ever beat in my opinion is the one that was shot to ****!! Tyson 86-2000 whips Wlad's ass!!! Wlad thinks Sanders can hit!! lol Night night big boy!! Tyson KO!!
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqEANlBbhsA[/ame] Mention the size of "Grade C" flabby, rusty, Old Sanders if you so wish, but remember Tyson brings extra power, speed & ferocious aggression.
That would be because you're a Klitschko fan-boy and a moron....they go hand in hand I guess. Tyson in any kind of shape would **** WALDO up. EASILY.
1. A very lethargic Tyson hurt Danny early when he tried to slug but than his knee went out from underneath him with the first big right cross he tried over tha jab...a very sad fight. Williams caught a lucky break and its difficult to credit him for being anything but. If Tyson's body wouldn't let him beat Danny Williams, he isn't beating anybody on this night. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syQj22ROnwk&feature=related[/ame] 2. So after 4 rounds of battering a man around the ring, and even absorbing some good shots himself, Wlad suddenly got terrifed to the point his body shut down? He put Brewster down and than punched himself out trying to force an early stoppage, simple as that. Interesting FACT. I didn't know Wlad lost to Peter. 3. Tyson had phenominal skills but that goes out the window when your knee explodes barely two minutes into the fight. 4. Who the **** did fight all those guys on their way up? :nut Wlad was brought up against a class of his peers, other aspiring prospects like ..Barrett, Bostice, Jefferson, Shufford, and ultimately McCline, who had already secured a top ranking and was in the run for a shot at Lewis. As well as a top 5 regular in Byrd..put it all together you have an above average road to the top; stiffer overall comp than Foreman and Bowe faced before their first title shots. Vitali was brought up against old names like Norris, Bean, Hide, and Donald. 5. I stand corrected.
