Ruddock was more highly regarded than almost anyone Tyson beat, ever.

    Why Nielson?

    Ruddock
    Golota
    Ruddock
    Bruno
    Stewart
His post prime wins are better than Wilder's

Nielson was 62-1 when Tyson fought him. He finished his career at 64-3. Tyson was badly out of shape and still managed to pull off a win in 6. Not bad, considering everything.

Edited. I corrected Nielson's final record, from 64-2, to 64-3..

It's kind of weird to throw around Ruddock and Stewart as post-prime, as if Tyson wasn't young and regarded as the best heavyweight on the planet.

Personally I can't rate any performance after he left Rooney. Every fight after that just had too many shocking mistakes in comparison to when he was with Rooney

This list just demonstrates how shockingly bad Tyson’s run was post prison. Take away the Ruddock wins before jail and Tyson didn’t do much of anything once he came home.

I guess that works too. Some guys are interchangeable. His rematch win with Bruno for example was probably better than Alex Stewart

Yeah, I think so. Bruno came off a good win. Stewart never really beat anybody.

The Golota win was terrific. Prime Lennox was the only other fighter that gave him that kind of treatment. Tyson's best win and best performance post Holy by some distance.

I probably should have said post peak, as I think he lost a bit of focus by then. But you are right, pre prison Tyson should still be considered in his prime

You're right, and it's too bad really. He was never going to beat Lewis or Holy post prison, but fights against Rahman, Mercer types would have been fun 50/50 fights imo. We would have a much better idea of where he was at.

It’s not much worse than Riddick Bowe’s entire career.

Bowe is vastly overrated in my opinion so I would agree but he did take out Holyfield.

Yeah, 2-1 over Holyfield, with Holy not being so great in the 3rd one, is better than Ruddock twice in 91, but not worlds apart. Tyson’s belt grabs and beating Golota, Botha, Stewart and Savarese might be better than the rest of Bowe’s resume.
