1:04 in the video I posted, the subtle movements when Mike was in an exposed area, he had an amazing ability to just stick his chin down. That was all gone when he dumped Rooney, and those small subtle movements is what made or broke Mike Tyson, not his sheer brutal power.
if gross would've been hit by that first tyson left hook during that gross flurry, gross would've been grossly ko'd, oh wait...
Gross tagged him with a couple uppercuts and landed some glancing blows. Poor video to showcase Tyson's head movement IMHO
Boxing just like every other sport produces incredible performers, once in a few decades great. Tyson was one of those rarity where there won't be another another heavyweight like him for a very long time, and the same goes for lennox lewis aswell. At the moment you got pacquiao and Mayweather int he smaller weights, and i'll be surprised if you see another boxer as good as them for quite a while, but don't worry one day another great boxer will come through. All sports goes through phases of greatness.
To get the leverage after so much bobbing and weaving and under quite a bit of pressure was quite impressive.
Tyson's victimes often made the mistake of staying right in front of him while unloading. Prime Lewis or Holmes were big guys with good movement and above average jabs (esp Holmes) and awesome right hands (most esp Lewis) who would move and hit on the move. Being smart guys they wouldn't have the hubris some of his victims had of standing and trading with Tyson tantalisingly close while luring and lulling them with head movement before the cobra leaping left hook.
