very much the people's champion - revered in Denmark I met him when I was staying in holstebro. very nice and approachable man
Very good fighter - a level or two below the greats but a favorite of mine and I'm glad he's bowing out at a good time. Hope he enjoys his well-earned retirement.
If Gatti and Hamed are in the hall of fame Kessler should be in there too. Hall of fame does not mean ATG its a tribute to fighters who is appreciated by fans and has decent wins. Kessler should be in there
on no planet is naseem an ATG lost to his first elite fighter, and then disappeared like a fart in the wind
A simplified take on Hamed and his career, but I'd concede his claims to being an all time great (in the proper sense, not the easily-achieved watered down version that gets chucked about way too easily these days) are debatable. But regardless of which side of that particular fence you're on, surely you'd have to agree that Hamed's record clearly and comfortably outstrips Kessler's? I mean come on, I'm a Kessler fan, but he's a level below Naz and calling Kessler a 'great' of any kind is being a little kind to him. But. Very good and enjoyable fighter nonetheless.
Sad to see him go but thanks for the memories. It may be a long time until Denmark delivers another fighter on the same level.
