Edison Miranda Invites Carl Froch To His Fight

Edison Miranda sent a personal invitation to Carl Froch, the WBC super middleweight champion, to sit ringside at his upcoming fight against Andre Ward. "Carl - congratulations on a great win last weekend. You showed that you are a warrior and a true champion. With your win on Showtime, you have gained much respect from the fans in the America. Now, I invite you to revisit the US and sit ringside as I take on Andre Ward, the highest ranked fighter in the WBC. I will fly you over here and arrange for your hotel and ringside seat. I hope you accept my offer, and please don’t make any excuses!.”

Edison Miranda will take on undefeated Andre Ward, America’s last Olympic gold medalist boxer, on May 16th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA. Showtime will televise the event at 9PM ET. Miranda, who recently fought at York Hall in England, had this to say as well.

“I have visited your beautiful country this past month and the great fans in England and throughout Europe know me very well. Although Andre Ward is a very skilled fighter, I am not looking past him, but I am confident I will win and prove to the world that 2009 will be my year.

You and I are very much alike in and out of the ring. There is no doubt we would give the world a very entertaining battle as well as a very exciting build up beforehand. So, please take my offer and come to the fight. You, as well as everyone in boxing, know that the right thing for Carl Froch to do is to fight the winner of Miranda-Ward. And that will be me!”

Miranda will have his hands full with Ward but it should be a good one.Ward still hasn't peaked so Edison has good chances.
Should worry less about Froch though.

I'm looking forward to Ward-Miranda. Should be a good match-up. Ward should outbox him with his far superior technical fundamentals, but Miranda's power and how Ward's chin holds up is what this fight is banking on.

Remember when Miranda was looking past Pavlik and was focussing on facing Taylor....

He says he is not looking past Ward.
Miranda knows how to promote himself. If he wins he knows having Froch there at ringside could start a big promotion to get them together.

The man does a good job of keeping himself in the mix, but this is a very fair point. Props to him for his foresight and promotional acumen... but let's see if he keeps his eye on the ball come fight night.

He would make a good optional for Froch if he wins. I wouldn't slag Carl for taking that fight. Looking at the WBC rankings, he could end up the mando. Wouldn't that end up a waste of plane fare!

I think Miranda would crush Froch. Though I have only seen Froch fight twice his skills are very limited. You have to respect him for being very tough and very strong though.

Exactly. Who writes these letters for Miranda? Miranda and his team should keep quiet and focus on Ward.

Ward is going to box his ears oiff. They arent even in the same class. Miranada will look like a one trick pony in there. Im not saying he wont KO ward, Miranda has real power. However, if Miranda doesnt get ward out of there inside 3 rounds he will be stopped by TKO by the superior boxer.
