You know what, in 1984 , as amateurs Green and Lewis would have been a competetive match... very accomplished fighters.. yes , i agree (ugly stylewise) Mitchell was a holder if he had no means of hurting you off that jab..

mmm Tony Tucker having no offensive tools.. (I hope you are joking) TNT had a good arsenal and could crack with pop, and was quick.. and the comparrison to Bugner means you either havent honestly seen Joe... or Tucker because they are completely different as i could imagine...

Lennox would beat Green every day.. But it would not have been all that much of a mismatch in the early 80's... God bless...

Tony Tubbs interview. He sparred with both Klitschkos when he was in his late 40's. It was reported that he gave them fits. Tubbs was very good boxer in his prime(even better than an in shape Douglas) and people look at his round body and go off that. His hands were very fast for a heavyweight.

I was in Top Rank for 3 weeks prior to Charles Shufford v Wlad Klitschko.. I took 4 sparring partners with (Kenny Adams and I) us to spar Klitscko and his brother .. The four were Samuel Peter, Teke Oruh, Derrick Banks and Tony Tubbs.. Tony had his small son with him.. The only fighter who was badly rocked and dropped in the first week was Tony , he was good looking for his age but got terribly hurt one day that i had to make him sit the rest of the afternoon out once, he was countered by Wladimir on the way in and caught square on.. I have to say, Tonys condition was quite good , and he was slimmer than against Spoon and Tyson...

Than your giving him compliments. He was still much better when he fought Tyson, he was a hell of a lot younger. Much faster, better reflexes, and better legs. You can definetly see he came better prepared in his prime for the Tyson fight, than spoon. Tyson was the champ(and the biggest thing in sports) at the time and more to gain than lose for tubbs.

Yes , his appearence was better ...... But age was just too much really..

Its funny Tony fought 1 full round against Mike in Japan.. and he won it 10-9.

Tony i liked.. He was fast with the hands but Wladimir found him very easy..

Tonys jab was fabulous....... it was something to behold when he was champ....

I think 2 of the 3 judges gave Tyson the first round against Tubbs. I had it even. And Wladimir found an old Tubbs easy to hit with the jab. A younger Tubbs boxes his ears off the same way Sanders did when he used his quicker hands to stop Wlad.
