Although I don't condone it, I do understand why some young men might want to carry knives in some of the rougher parts of London.

By the "rougher" parts I mean places like Hackney, Brixton, Peckham, Lewisham, places like that. Not Dagenham. It might not be the nicest of places, but it really isn't that bad.

I know. Some kids don't know any other way of life, but Kevin should really know better. He's applied himself in life well enough to elevate himself out of the shitty end of things, nobody makes him live in Dagenham he really has no need to be living like this.

He really is a very good boxer, but a ****ing knob cheese as well.

Which surprises me all the more why Mitchell feels the need to "tool up". I would have thought anybody proficient in a combat sport, especially a pro boxer, would have enough confidence to walk the streets of Dagenham without the need for a knife.

I think he just wants to look cool...

Dagenham's alright it's shitty around the heathway but tbh i went to fight there as a AM and never felt it was that rough you'd need a shank with you. Unless your mixing with wrong company...

The places Claypole mentioned are much more dangerous.

I grew up in Lewisham, still go there a fair bit, it's not that bad lol!! Anywhere can be a bit sharp if you take a misstep.

I think you're in trouble regardless of the knife if there is no obvious exit strategy on the table and a gang descends on you. Any group with intent and experience won't hesitate much over one bloke, knife or no knife. So I can't make a case for it, even setting aside the fact that it could ruin his career.

Maybe work up to Harlesden once you have survived a few nights on the Cheltenham strip.
