Ok sorry mate. I guess its a bit hit and miss with stadium fights, I remember booking up 75 tickets for Bruno McCall at wembley. Got there and couldn't see f all despite being reasonably near the ring. Had a corner stantion in the way, we just moved into more expensive vacant seats and nobody claimed them so we stayed there!!:happy
I'm in the West Stand lower block N. Any good? According to the plan I'm smack bang whallop straight in front of the ring. Also mate, have you heard of the Newham Hotel? I booked a room there then read the reviews and some of them are atrocious
The west stands brilliant mate - the newest stand at West Ham. You will be close(iish) to the ring and will have a great view. The stands at West Ham are all close to the pitch so you wont be far away from the ring. I haven't heard of the Newham hotel - whereabouts is it. To be frank most areas in Newham are pretty bad!! Dont want to put you off or anything! You may end up sharing a room with 15 illegal immigrants:fire
Good news about the seats. They say it's 2mins walk away from Green Street? It's on Romford Road? And apparently it's near some street with lots of Indian jewellery shops or something :huh
http://www.whufc.com/articles/20100322/mitchell-tickets-selling-well_2236884_2001261 Newham Hotel!!!! Jesus you would have been better off plopping up in the City or West End. Plenty off good deals about. Some of the hotels in the City and Canary Wharf are real good value at weekends too. Newham Hotel I think is between Woodgrange Rd and Green Street. Near the old bill station in Forest Gate which could well be handy for you. Sure it used to be a brothel too which again could be handy.
LoL. I'd like to hear what the hotels like Smudger, you must give us a report - if you survive it! - one things for sure - I'd advise anyone going to the fight, who has decided to park around the side streets, not to venture back to their car on their own after the fight or after the pub. The locals seem to have taken a liking to picking on smalls groups of football fans after games and cutting them up or beating them up.
I've been to Upton Park quite a few times when i've been following Leeds. Probably the most intimidating away ground i've been to - coming out of the away end and you're met with quite a few looking for trouble and very little police prescence!! Used be a very dodgy trip!! Luckily we only have the likes of Brentford and Yeovil to worry about these days
For ****'s sake looks odds on that I'm gonna get killed or raped. The fight better ****ing be worth it. I can always cancel the hotel though, where do you lot recommend?
The entrance to the this fight will tell me all I need to know about Katsidis and his concentration level. If he wears that silly Spartan helmet on the walk in, then I'm changing my pick to Mitchell, lol! If Mitchell insists on staying conventional throughout, then that plotter job and forced body work will play right into Kat's wheelhouse. Can Mitchell switch hit? It'd be good because switch hitting at least in the first 4 rounds would test Katsidis from the southpaw side a la Casamayor...and keep his spacing.
Just chatting to a West Ham fan at work and he reckons that West Ham are only making £30k out of this fight, thought they'd be getting a few kid more to be honest, but I suppose its £30k clear profit on a night that the ground would usually be unused
Smudger - you could always try the hotels in West Ham's stadium - never stayed there myself, but a few mates have and said its ok. I can check prices for you later if you're interested mate. Other than that you are probably better off either staying up town or trying to find somewhere in Essex. I know there is a hotel above the pub at Hornchurch station (about 15 mins on the tube from Hornchurch) which is quite reasonable I think.
I'm up in the tiers. However, as a modern stadium it should still be a decent view. Saying that, though, if ticket sales are poor, which many on here have suggested that they will be, everyone will be moved forward to make it look like a sell out for the cameras. Going to be a great atmosphere regardless!
According to the site, sales are going well. I know loads that are going to it. Going to sort mine out this week, arguing with the missus who think's she is coming! You are right about the atmosphere it will be rocking in there! I think there will be a lot more promotional stuff going on as we get nearer. Wouldn't be surprised if Mitchell was presented tonight before the game.
