Torres is one hell of a MMA fighter. he is a well rounded fighter, but if he is limited to only boxing, there is no way he could hang with Floyd. Just like I don't think Floyd would be able to hang in an MMA fight against Torres.
The difference is Floyd COULD possibly beat Torres in an MMA fight, where as Torres would probably NEVER beat PBF in a boxing match.
Torres was always overrated as hell. How he became a consensus top 5 P4P fighter in that weak ass division is beyond me.
this is a true assessment. . . A boxer has more of a chance in an MMA ring then a MMA fighter has in a boxing ring but in the end. . . whats the point? The boxer has a chance because he can still strike. . the MMA guy dont because 85% of the tools at his disposal will be removed. It really dont prove ANYTHING AT ALL. and to even argue MMA vs Boxing is like a dog chasing its tail in circles. . people just need to cut it out
im sick of people saying mma is more of a fight then boxing im an amature boxer and have been boxing for 6 years and at my gym there are people who train in mma and i have fought with them in both boxing and mma. from the fights i have had with them i can tell you that mma is fought at a much slower pace then boxing, both standing up and especially on the ground. in a boxing match you have no time to think every thing has to be instant, if you make a mistake in boxing against a good boxer your done. now look at mma in which mistakes are part of what makes mma so "fun" to watch. honestly if you want to see two master class mma fighters go at it you would probobly be watching two brazilian jujitsu guys wrestling all night and i think that classifys way less as a "fight" then two boxers boxing all night.:bbb
Does someone want to get this little girl a drink? My god he doesn't half try and defend MMA here, you sir, are a very sad little boy.
:rofl:rofl In a real fight Floyd Money Mayweather will pull his gold plated 9mm baby and gun down the *****, then throw dolla bills on the dead body.
MMA v Boxing = broken record * Floyd beats Torres at boxing easily * Torres beats Floyd at MMA the vast majority of the time Is that relevant? Not at all. Two different sports, one is skill specific one is more balanced, clearly the skill specific one will always have a shot but there is a reason that MMA fighters dont just train to box. The difference between having good striking skills and being a boxer in MMA is that someone facing a boxer knows that they have pretty much zero chance against you once they hit the floor. MMA fighters with relatively decent stand-up games also train to escape and avoid the ground-game, Floyd has never done that and it would show. There are more things to train, and more ways to lose in MMA so there are bound to be more mistakes and therefore more upsets. Boxers are the pinacle of one very specific part of fighting. Anyway, this is a pointless discussion. The fanboys on either side will never shift an inch in their opinion.
if brock lessner could become a champ in mma then it would seem that a top level boxer could have a good shot. i belive if you give an elite boxer 3 to 5 months to train on ground fighting then they will have a big shot at beating anyone in mma.
its still going in circles. . If you gave Brock 3 - 5 months of hardcore boxing he could probably fair pretty well in todays heavyweight boxing scene. If they could find gloves big enough to fit him :rofl
I don't doubt that. MMA is just fighting, and boxing is just one of the many ways of going about it. Brock Lesnar had very solid grappling experience from his amatuer wrestling days and only rudimentary striking skills are usually required so that you can still make the most of your grappling. However, poor ground and grappling skills will almost always render an MMA fighter as inconsistent. Only when they have distinct physical advantages might this be somewhat negated. I do believe that actual top level boxer (not the old Mercer, Matt Skelton etc..) who trained properly for MMA would have a reasonable shot at beating anyone, but I feel that the level of takedown defence and grappling skills they could aquire in that length of time is going to hinder them more-so than someone like Brock who already had an extensive wrestling experience but no real striking training. Anyway, as I said, broken record. We have heard all this before and no one really seems to want to hear anyone elses opinion so I'm gonna leave it at that.
MMA fans like to trash boxing but it was boxing that made Anderson Silva and BJ Penn victorious this past weekend. These two fighters are P4P the best in the sport, and they're also the best boxers in MMA.
