He has to be talking about Overeem. But still, he did win the most prestigious title in kickboxing after being an MMA fighter for his whole career til then. Then again that is ONE guy. He also might be confused because a decent amount kickboxers have tried MMA, and he might not know they came from kb.

It may actually be a blessing in disguise. Did you tape your session? If so look back at your mistakes and work on fixing them. Better to find about any flaws in your technique now than fight night.
