I firmly believe that sort of **** dooms MMA to a niche sport. For so many people, that crosses the line between a legitimate, if brutal sport, and an unappealing streetfight. Even elbows to the head of a downed opponent can be a terrible look for MMA. I mean, it's a combat sport and a fight is a fight, people bleed and things get broken. But I think the emphasis has always got to be on the "sport" part rather than the "fight" part. There's a massive number of guys who enjoy watching a good clean fight, but a great number of them don't enjoy seeing a barely-conscious guy get his head repeatedly stomped on and kicked. That just looks like a criminal assault, not a sporting contest. :hat

I remember him saying a while back that his goal is to eliminate PPV and have all fights on TV. Dont know how thats possible though.

People were shitting all over Silva-Bonnar too, but that turned out to be a very entertaining card. Three or four guys throwing in a few bucks each for the PPV enjoyed some good fights, and were treated to a memorable headliner performance from a true legend of the sport. I spent the price of a Big Mac combo to watch the card with a couple of mates, all of us enjoyed it and none of us felt at all ripped off. My friend who likes the fights but doesn't know the history of the sport took an instant hatred to Dave Herman. When he heard the crowd respond to Minotauro and I told him that Big Nog is a way-past-his-prime legend and BJJ specialist with the best resume in HW history, my friend was instantly cheering for him to submit Herman. When Herman tapped, my friend literally jumped out of his chair roaring with delight. "Hardcore fans" shat all over that fight, but it was an entertaining scrap with a feel-good ending. :hat

I love cricket but I can't stand the IPL, so I don't watch it. And I sure as hell don't go to cricket forums day after day whining about how the ICB is killing the sport. :-( You can whine "oh he just kneed a journeyman in the chest" all you want. And everyone knew short-notice-fight opponent Bonnar was outclassed. Tell me you weren't excited when Anderson deliberately went back to the cage and motioned the twice-his-size Bonnar to come in and fight toe-to-toe. That wasn't worth watching, you got no enjoyment out of that? :hat
Maybe I'm wrong, but aside from that one line - which applies to what? Three cards? - the only things I've seen from you about this card have been *****, moan, complain, insult, mock. Just the usual stuff. Anyone who was keen to see it, you ridiculed. Why even bother? :conf :hat

The majority of your posts seem to be either one-line insults mocking other people for their opinions, or short posts bitching about something, or YouTube music videos. Why would you need to start a "Let's be positive for once" thread if you weren't spending most of your time here making negative comments? :conf Anyway, I'm well sick of getting into pathetic little schoolyard slapfights with you, so I'm not going to continue this one.
