A bold statement to make considering Caballero's best win is over largely untested Steve Molitor. I think Vasquez and Marquez are different beasts altogether.
Man, Molitor had his hands totally full. I didn't know Caballero, he's so awkward.. but he reminded me a lot of Tommy Hearns (of course with less technical skill), tall powerful guy with a +- defence and weak on the inside.
His best win is still over Ponce De Leon. His second best win is against Somsak Sithchatchawal. This was his third best win. Prime Vasquez and Marquez both beat him, but both of them are on their way out at this point, plus Caballero is just naturally a MUCH bigger man than Marquez.
****ing... Molitor had no footwork tonight, kept finding himself on the ropes getting his by that lanky mother****er.
He still reminds me of Mayorga. Very powerful, very awkward with a ton of holes in his overall game. He's still defensively suspect and lacking technically. They're cut from the same cloth...cept Mayorga got the bigger share.
Caballero isn't going away anytime soon , the guy is a monster at 122# , he definitely can go up in weight and be effective. Molitor looked shell shocked as the fight wore on . He literally didn't belong there ... I'd call that getting exposed.
Caballero is nothing like Hearns except for being a tall guy for the division he's in. Hearns had worldclass jab and one of the most punishing right hands ever. Caballero has neither of these things, but was just able to bull Molitor into the ropes.
Ay dios. I believe there should be a rule. A fighter has up to five fights after his first loss to determine whether or not said loss "exposed" him. He could've just had a rough night and got caught at a stylistic disadvantage ya know.
Cordoba's still top-10 at 122, and Rojas moved up to draw with Chris John, plus they were both over 4 years ago.
Yes but Alcline geting starched, Bute saved by the ref, Molitor getting koed, pascal strugled with a bum, demmers lose and another prospect tht was scheduled to figh Lopez got a draw with a journeyman, and get the proposed fight with Lopez out of the picture.
At the middle of the first round....all i was thinking was Darchinyan (sp?) - Mijares. And damn, i was right. Molitor looked confused from the start. I don't think they expected Caballero to pressure him like that. Great win for Caballero....things are gonna get even more interesting at 122....I can't wait :happy
