You still rate Ponce De Leon?

I always felt he lacked the technical ability to be anything more than a "good" fighter, and was very fortunate he didn't find himself up against a prime Gerry Penalosa.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Bautistua in the ring with him. Rey was ridiculously green, and had been thrown in the deep end. That was always going to end early, and by knockout.

Even Escobedo showed just how one dimensional De Leon was, and the scorecards didn't properly reflect how competitve the fight was. Same could be said for the Penalosa fight, though.

There is no evidence that Marquez and Vasquez are shot, so on that basis, I would favour them both to beat Caballero.

Chances are a lot of guys at that weight would be spending a night in Hook City against JuanMa.

Then again we should slow down before he gets TOO overhyped.

This is kind of a tough stance because there isn't any evidence that they aren't declining and just leaning on each other to hide their decline.

Personally I'd like to see both guys in tune up fights against different opponents before judging their chances against Cabellero. If I can sense a decline in either one, I'd definitely favor Cabellero against them.

Welll I would say Vasquez certainly sounds punchy...didn't hear much of him before the trilogy though.

Freddy Roach had said after they split that Vazquez was already becoming parkinsoned so this might be the case.....although freddy does seem to talk alot of **** about a fighter after he loses one.

I too remember Roach saying Izzy was beginning to slur his words and forget things. It's bound to happen if Rafa Marquez is pounding you in the head for some 20+ rounds. Not to mention all the wars he had before hand.

Molitor's problem is he just can't ****in punch. I mean his punches aren't that fast, they aren't that strieght they aren't that fluid...about the only thing you can say about then is that they are accurate, which just doesn't do the trick against a big mother ****er like that.

Fast foot speed and movement can only take you so far. You can't just duck punches for twelve rounds.

Thing is he looked a lot more precise in previous fights. Not only were his punches crisper but they were straighter. He was throwing punches that all I could think was he was expecting Cabellero to move into this out of courtesy.

Sadly things don't work that way in boxing.

Freddy lost all credibility when he said, "Amir Khan has a better jab that Oscar". Not to mention when he also said, "Manny Pacquiao is going to knock Oscar De La Hoya out"

I just think saying Caballero knocks out elite top 10 p4p fighters Vasquez and Marquez out based on a win over Molitor, is a knee-jerk reaction...and not a lot more.

    I agree

I still saw a lot of flaws in Caballero tonight, an inside fighter would frustrate him badly

it was a badly stlye match-up for Molitor, but if CC can be disciplined with that jab as he was in this fight then he gives any elite fighter problems.

Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao sells itself. The fight will be unbelievable huge, whether or not Roach comes out with bull**** or not.

He also made comments about Hopkins "losing it" after he got rid of him for the Kelly fight. We all know what happened there.

Great trainer, but he's a **** talker recently. Big shame.
