Monzon would lean on Leonard a lot harder than Hagler and take a decision. He'd impose his size and strength on the whole tho Leonard would make him look foolish at times.
Monzon by a close decision. Leonard would do well early on but would be looking at a beat down later on. Monzon by decision or late stoppage as in the first Griffith fight. And Emile was a better MW than Ray.
Tommy was certainly faster and sharper than Monzon and with a more punishing jab but with very limited experience in the championship rounds. Turns out he was deficient in the area of late round stamina and endurance, otherwise he would have surely pulled out the win in fight one with leonard. Leonard, we all know, is deficient when trying to hit a moving target and Carlos at a comfortable 160, never had any problem with stamina late in his championship fights with as demanding an opponent as Valdez. Ray simply cannot cope with Monzon's strength, height and reach, footwork, and constant clinching; Ray cannot muster any meaningful offense in this fight. Ray gets pummelled by the right hand but hangs on till the final bell, SHould be a field day for Monzon. Ray Leonard for some reason, doesnt do well in hypothetical matchups.
