I did not see the fight live and I only saw highlights on Youtube. That being said, from the highlights I saw, it looked like Maidana was edging Morales' on pure work rate. Now I know you can not judge a fight based on the highlights, but if that is how the fight carried on with Maidana slightly outworking Morales, then I can see why Maidana won. P.S. Does anyone know if HBO will replay that fight this Saturday (04/16/2011)?
Every round is different, man. You can't go by HL at all. :yep And, no they won't air Maidana-Morales again this Saturday. They're showing Khan-McCloskey on tape delay along with Berto-Ortiz.
I scored the bout 6-5 1 even, Maidana, been the rounds that he won clearly his and some of Morales very close, in fact could had been scored fo Maidana, just because Morales fought much better that we had expected it doesn't mean he won the fight.
I thought Morales done enough for a draw and could've edged it if Cortez had been a little more strict with Maidana's fouling and deducted some points. That said, I think Maidana was tailor-made for El Terrible, Erik with one eye just tied him up and used technique, instinct and skill to make up for the physical disadvantages he faced.
I had it 7-5 Morales but there were enough close rounds to justify 7-5 for Maidana without me argueing with it.
Morales won the event clearly which matters just as much if not more. Clear event win for El Terrible
BOLLOX, all sentiments aside here mate, Morales shud hav gotten the win OR a draw wud hav beeen right result. Maidana only won rounds 1, 9, 11 and 12 clearly. So i am thinking with my head NOT my heart. Morales didnt say he thought Maidana won???? He admitted he was gone after round 10 as in very tired and maybe took this fight a little to early in the comeback trail. Hes gonna fitter now mate which spells trouble for the rest of the fighters. Obviously Khan or Marquez is not gonna be a walk in the park but with the right fitness and conditioning Morales can get the decisions because hes still got the combinations.
