One of my fav fights, I wasn't a boxing fan during the great MAB Morales wars so missed the chance to watch them great fights live. Morales along with Pacquiao are the two biggest warriors of the last 10 years.
I will say Morales was a true warrior. His fights with Pac were mind blowing:admin Maidana still stood toe to toe with one of the best ever. IDC if Morales was 55 he would still be a risk for any fighter:deal Maidana learned so much from that fight. I remember when Morales hit Maidana with a hard right in the 3rd or 4th that made Maidana walk back his tracks. I cheered so hard that I lost my voice for a week.
if not for the eye, I think Morales would've taken complete control of the fight. He fought his ass off that night
I had Morales winning. I thought it was one of the best fights of the year, a classic match up of experience and skill vs youth and strength, the matador vs the bull.
Morales really showed his greatness in that fight. Above his best weight, well past his prime and fighting with one eye for the majority of the fight, he was able to (at times) give Maidana an education. Morales is, quite rightly, praised for being a warrior but his boxing skills were absolutely superb. One of my favourite fighters ever.

Fighters less great than Morales and even more faded have caused problems for fighters far less great than Maidana. It was a great action fight. I don't see how anyone can give Morales 7 rounds by any stretch, but hey, he's a fan favorite and did so much better than anyone expected so I guess I expect that. I will also say if this were about a Roy Jones Jr. fight from late in his career, people would bring up his positive PED test but for Morales it goes without a mention.
If you make Maidana wear the pillow like Winning gloves that Morales made him wear, he loses to Broner.
I felt as though Morales won and would of won more wide had his eye not close. This makes Danny beating and KOing Morales very underrated wins.
