I just love the way some folk base there oppinion on one fight i.e a washed up and well past his best Hamed when he fought Berrera.A prime Hamed would have knocked both Berrera and Morales senseless inside 4 rounds.I really cannot find anything to like about Hamed outside the ring, but during the mid 90's he was the man at the weight.:good
If Morales fights with his HEART and gets aggressive he gets KO'D... if he can box a disciplined counterpunching fight(when has he ever done that?) he can win a decision. Ive always said a counter puncher will give Hamed fits....why Hamed did his best to avoid MARQUEZ like the plague. Hamed also though Barrera was going to fight an aggresive fight and come to him...no one expected Barrera to turn into a terrific counterpuncher after 60 fights.... Ive always thought only an exceptional boxer(not brawler) would beat Hamed... he faced one of the ATG Mexicans in his prime and lost...no shame in that.
I agree. Hamed was ok, but I think overrated. Barrera was Hamed's first real challenge, and look what happened. Hamed had a re-match clause in his contract and didn't even exercise it. Prior to that, Hamed struggled against Kelly, and Kelly wasn't even in his prime. I say Morales by a late KO.
Robinson was the champ, yet Hamed (the boy and challenger) not only beat him in every dept he bullied and embarrassed him.Hamed could have finished the fight long before it ended.Paul Ingle (rip) was a warrior, and was taking a sustained beating from Hamed before the end came. Both Robinson and Ingle went into survival mode, after realising just how heavy handed Hamed was. Morales would have tried to macho it out with Hamed, his pride wouldn't have allowed him to box on the back foot.Hamed was THE hardest punching featherweight.:good Didn't Ingle stop Jones ? didn't Jones beat Berrera twice ? didn't Berrera beat Morales twice ?
A clown who beat every world title holder at 126, unified the division and ruled as the linear champ for the best part of half a decade. A clown who beat 9 world champs, and only ever lost one fight to a prime version of an ATG.
Its generally considered that Barrera won more of the rounds when they tradded/brawled and that Morales won the rounds when they boxed in their first 2 fights but you are saying barrera was the better boxer and by a large amount?
Morales was a class above the Prince. He would have won a wide UD by landing jabs and right hands at will. Hamed had **** defense.
I also take issue with those saying that morales didnt have the ability or patience to box naz from the outside and use the jab. Look at the first pac fight, morales boxed beautifully, people only talk about the 12th when he show boated but he was patient and cautious the first 11 rounds. Also people are forgetting that Naz has been dropped himself and Morales was a decent puncher at 122 and 126 but not so much at 130+. Morales had an iron chin and never went down until the Pac II fight. Naz isnt taking out Morales with 1 shot and if they do trade, Morales is skilled enough to land on Naz who always had his hands low. I think even if they exchange, morales gets the best of Naz and stops him.
Morales wouldn't be staying outside and using the jab. He would be all over Hamed, shutting him down. Morales stays outside and he would lose. Hamed was quicker and more elusive than Morales.
