morales never looked bad before the raheem fight and i think the fact that he barely made weight in a new and higher weight class should show the lack of focus he put into that fight no he wasn't at his best ever like his first fight with barrera, but he was still far from shot, which is what i hear alot of people claim diaz also was not as bad as everyone claims there was only two beltholders when pac moved up campbell held 3 diaz held 1 i don't count cassamayor because he had been so inactive and looked horrible against saqnta cruz, whom i might add was beaten by diaz
Kind'a have to agree in that Morales never had any business fighting above 126 pounds IMO. He was small at junior lightweight. But Morales clearly was a shell of himself when he fought Pacquiao the 2nd and 3rd time. Not many fighters have been in as many wars as Morales had been
Time is relevant you know......santa curz just beat Casa last year...not even a full year and Castillo almost beat Floyd about 5 yrs ago...maybe 4.....but I see where you were going.
He's still shot...it's just a testament to his greatness that he can be shot and be competitive. Noone is saying he's not a warrior and capable of giving anyone a good fight. We're just all admitting what's basic knowledge at this point...He's past being a shell of his former self. Morales would've killed Diaz in his prime with one hand tied behind his back and one leg lopped off.
what fight did morales ever look shot in besides pac and possibly raheem ,due to the circumstances i have already stated you guys discredit diaz and say that a even a shot morales beat him(unofficially)but i believe at that time morales would give the current crop of lightweights fits probably winning as much as he lost
true but it begged the question and considering the resolve and resilience morales has had in his career i think pacman destroying him pretty well sealed his fate, don't you?
cmon now there size difference was to much while diaz was fighting at light welter morales was at feather his power never carried that high
I didnt' expect to change your mind, but it's good to debat with someone who knows boxing even if we differ in opinions. If the Raheem fight showed EM had nothing left to give going by his preformance then, Diaz...even as "shitty" as some would like to say the fomer title holder is, EM would have folded and been KO'd by the natrually bigger foe. Early in the rematch with PAC EM looked very good..he won the 1st 3 rounds. But PAC wasn't loosing compeltely early in the fight, he still hit EM with some good shots but the speed and power definitly began to take a toll....Remember, the first fight EM said Pac's pwer wasn't all that. PAC said it was b/c of the gloves he had, the rematch and the rubber match PAC was able to KO EM using Reyes gloves that he feels he has more power. Of course it's all speculation that the gloves made the difference, And I don't even know if I buy it, but I just feel EM wasn't SHOT! Just past his best days as an ELITE level fighter. And I do agree Diaz was never a high level champion....a titlist would be a good description of his short reign as a world champ.
