If were talking about the 2nd fight though, Morales showed himself a very tough challenge and lasted all 10 rounds in a war. By the 3rd fight he didnt have anything left, Pac blasted him out in 3. After that fight was Diaz, the Morales of the 2nd fight would have walked through Diaz. Morales took more punishment in those fights with Pac than any other fights in his career, including MAB...he was shot by the 3rd cos Pac shot him.
I'm of the belief he was severely faded coming into the Pac trilogy and gave his last amazing performance in the first fight. Even then it was BARELY enough to beat Pac, who more or less retired Morales in the last few rounds. The 2nd fight and 3rd fights he had no legs, no sap in his punches and was almost fighting on memory alone. Again, it's NOT a discredit to Pac. It just is what it is. Wars with Barrera, being a bravado fighter and taking on hard punchers brought an extremely faded Morales into a trilogy with the hardest puncher at SFW. The best way you could say it is that Morales' career was on life support and Pac pulled the plug.
Shot fighters dont beat current no.1 p4p fighter in the world. I agree he was shot by the 3rd fight but that has alot to do with the damage Pac caused in the 2nd fight...it was the most damage ever inflicted on Erik Morales in a single fight.
He was damaged goods going into the second fight if not shot then, the warrior he is put up a great fight.
On the 2nd fight, Morales was doing exactly what he did 1st fight and was beating Pac. The difference was Pac's improvement and bodyshots. Watch the fight again, watch those cringing right hooks to the body Pac was throwing that made Morales take a step back everytime. The turning point was the 6th round, Morales was fine up until then, winning the fight 4-1 but in that round, Pac gave him the biggest beating he has ever received. in the 7th round Morales had his spurt again but Pac outlasted him and from there on it was all Pac. people forget Pac was loosing the 2nd fight until he managed to turn it all around in 1 single round. Prime or not, if you receive that kind of punishment in a single round, its gonna affect you for the rest of the fight.
he was so damaged he was beating the current p4p #1 4 rounds to 1. pac gave him the beating of a lifetime in the 6th round and managed to turn the fight around. Dont try to descredit the man, he could have very easily lost the fight that night and you would all be singing praises for Morales asking when was his prime, 122,126 or 130...
do you even remember the trilogy the first on was the real war with the next two having barrera changing up his style to more or less outboxing morales. good fights but not the wars you speak of only one man physically and mentally beat up E.M. and that was pac neither man would back down on had to go
Pac's body work was nice..but Morales was fading from the 1st round on. Morales was bitching about his legs in his corner around the 4th round. He just didn't have it in him to compete with a harder puncher with faster hands and faster legs.
He was KOed the first time in his career, that is a reason to think that his best days were past, and they were,Pac won that fight thank to all the wars Morales was in before
Okay so I was wrong...apparently this entire thread IS in fact another way to either hype up Manny Pac. I'll make my leave now, I see where this is heading.
I guess Foreman was shot when he fought Ali...he was Ko;d for the 1st time. Amir Khan must have been pretty shot last week too...he was Ko'd for the 1st time. Did I not just say Morales has never received that kind of punishment, ever. MAB hurt him a few times but MAB isnt the puncher Pac is. Had that been Pac landing those bombs on a huge scale then im sure Morales would have gone down too. On the 1st fight however Morales adjusted his style so that he would outbox Pac and not get into war. After his beating on the 6th Morales tried to be macho in the 7th and went to war, he hurt Pac for the first 1.30min but Pac came back.
This thread is about clearing up myths that Morales was shot in the 2nd fight. He very clearly was not. He beat the current p4p.1 fighter just 9months before and was beating him again before Pac managed to turn it around in the 6th. Credit where credit is due. Pac was loosing and he turned the fight around.
